VARIOUS ALBUM APPEARENCES

 CALIFORNIA JAM II
Label: Columbia Records || Released: July, 1978

What?: A two-LP set (CBS 88318) that includes 3 Aerosmith songs, "Same Old Song And Dance", "Draw The Line" and "Chip Away The Stone", all recorded live at California Jam II at Ontario Motor Speedway on March 18, 1978.
Other: The live version of "Draw The Line" on this album was later included on "Classics Live II."

Aerosmith co-headlined California Jam II in front of 350,000 people. The show opened with Jean Michel Jarre (electronic space rock). First on stage was Bob Welch (with a crack back-up band lifted from Pat Travers Band at the time - Pat Thrall and Tommy Aldridge), then Dave Mason, Santana, Heart, Ted Nugent, Foreigner (played a lot of stuff off their yet-to-be-released Double Vision album, which would go on to be the best selling album of that year), Aerosmith and then came Rubicon and Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush.

Aside from the three Aerosmith tracks, this album includes two live tracks from each of the following acts: Santana, Dave Mason, Heart, Ted Nugent, Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush and Rubicon. There's also a song by Jean-Michel Jarre on the album, but it's not live, as he didn't appear at the show.

 THE BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD EXPERIENCE
Label: Geffen Records || Released: December, 1993

What?: It includes the Aerosmith song "Deuces Are Wild", which supposedly was an outtake from the "Pump" sessions? (1989)
Other: The track was later included on Aerosmith's Big Ones.

I worked on 4 albums with Aerosmith, plus "Deuces Are Wild", which Steven and I wrote for the Beavis and Butthead soundtrack (I never did see the movie!). I think they were in a hurry to provide something for the film, and they basically used the basement demo of Deuces. I didn't get credit for it, but I am playing all the instruments except the guitar solo in the middle. -Jim Vallance

Disclaimer:
There are of course many other Various Artists' albums released that features Aerosmith but I've decided not to included releases like 'Best of Ballads'/ 'Absolute 1994', or whatever, that includes hits like Cryin' and IDWTMAT etc...

If you know of older v/a albums and/or albums with unreleased material/live versions that isn't included, please e-mail me!
