The Bob Marley Tribute Album - An Article
Bob Marley To Be Honored on Album
.c The Associated Press
KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) - Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu and Aerosmith's
Steven Tyler are among the performers whose renditions of Bob Marley tunes
will be in a new tribute album.
``Bob Marley: Chant Down Babylon'' will be released in November,
Jamaica's Island Records said Wednesday.
The album, produced by Marley's son, Stephen, is a joint effort with
Def Jam Records, a label better known for its hip-hop acts. The songs highlight
the 1970s hits of Marley, known as ``The Gong'' in Jamaica.
``We hope it will make an impact in terms of the hip-hop world,''
Stephen Marley said. ``They need a spiritual icon like `The Gong' to get a
different message.''
Hill, who will add a bluesy feel to ``Turn Your Lights Down Low,'' is
married to another of Bob Marley's sons, Rohan.
Badu will sing ``No More Trouble,'' and Tyler will cover ``Roots, Rock,
Reggae'' from Marley's 1976 breakthrough album, ``Rastaman Vibration.''

Steven Tyler and the Backstreet Boys
(Boston Herald)
The Backstreet Boys met the Back Nine boys at the fab Four Seasons hotel the
other night when the red-hot singing group headed over to the presidential
suite after their sold-out FleetCenter show to party with the Ryder Cup
teams.
Our spies on the scene report that three of the Backstreets arrived at the
hotel in vans to party with the players, Britian's Prince Andrew, who is also
at the hotel for the Cup, and Aerosmith main man Steven Tyler, who took his
kids to the Backstreet show.
``It was an incredible scene,'' said Someone Who Was There. ``Evidently, they
are golf fans.''
We would like to tell you that the partying went on 'til the wee hours. But
it didn't. The Larger Than Life festivities wrapped up at around midnight.
After which, the golf boys and Steven headed off to bed and the BSB blew over
to Jillian's on Lansdowne Street to play pool. Ah, youth!
Anyway, it's unclear how the Backstreets and the Back Nines got together. But
we DO know the boys are big golfers.
We also know that the BSB and Tyler hooked up earlier in the evening when
Steven took his kids, Chelsea and Taj, backstage at the FleetCenter to meet
their idols. (So much for Dad!)
Word is, Steven got to know A.J., Howie D., Brian, Kevin and Nick when
Aerosmith and the Backstreeters shared the same hotel in Europe.
Simpsons - Possible Aerosmith Performance
Here's the word..for the year 2000 Fox is plannig a huge bash to honor
the Simpsons, I don't have the details, but among them could be appearances
by bands which have appeared on the show, Aerosmith is one of those
bands..so it's possible they could make an appearance.
Belated Setlist - Monza 99
This was the Monza set where Aerosmith only played 1 hour. Basically
ended up a singles only performance. Aerosmith managed to be squeezed in
the day after due to the previous day of the festival cancelled due to
weather (were headlining the day earlier). It was quite different as
being it wasn't a day revolving around Aerosmith and time was short, the
band just walked onto stage (no intro).

Another fun thing is that it also just recently passed 100000 visitors. During last year, the first year online, I had a total of 25000 visitors, which was also alot, but this year I've had 75000! (in other words 50000 more than last year!) so that's really fun to see. This means I've had about 200 vistors every day during this year (if you divide 75000 with 365)
Anyway, thanks to all of you people who has been visiting the site during this year and I hope you will keep coming back. : )

Aerosmith Nominated For Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame!!
Clapton, Aerosmith, Queen up for Hall of Fame
HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Eric Clapton, Aerosmith and Queen head up the short
list of nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall Fame class of 2000.
Also on the ballot of performers whose debut album was released at least 25
years ago are Black Sabbath, Solomon Burke, Earth, Wind & Fire, the O'Jays,
the Moonglows, Lovin' Spoonful, Bonnie Raitt, Lou Reed, Steely Dan, James
Taylor and Ritchie Valens.
Black Sabbath, Steely Dan, the Moonglows, Valens and Burke were nominated
last year, but did not make the final cut. Clapton was inducted in 1993 as
one-third of Cream, while Reed joined three years later when the Velvet
Undergound was honored.
Inductees are generally announced in the fall for a January ceremony. In the
1999 class were Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Curtis Mayfield, Paul
McCartney, the Staple Singers, Charles Brown and Dusty Springfield.
The induction process is overseen by the New York-based Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame Foundation, which mails ballots to a group of more than 800 artists,
producers, broadcasters, writers and music industry executives who vote on
the year's inductees. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum is located in
Cleveland.

Rock Hall Nominees Named
The ballots have gone out - the fate of this year's nominees for induction
into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is now in the hands of the voters.
Ballots with 15 different artists have been sent out to approximately 1,000
international experts in rock and roll. Each voter then selects eight artists,
ranking them by preference, and, according to the Hall of Fame's Web site
(www.rockhall.com), artists who receive the highest number of votes, as well
as more than 50 percent of the vote, are inducted. On average, between five
and seven artists are let into the Hall, which resides in Cleveland, Ohio.
Voters must return ballots to the Hall by Oct. 2.
This year's ballot includes 15 artists.

1st release they called it IDWTMAT instead of HIMS on the liner and on the

2nd release they corrected liner (using Soul) but not the CD (elapsed time
is shown as 5.35 instead of 6.04)
3rd release - they correct CD but spell Soul as Sole!

Rolling Stone Review
Here is Rolling Stone's opinion on the MTV thing:
Kid Rock got the night off to a kick-ass start by launching into Run-D.M.C.'s "King of Rock." Kid's 3'9" sidekick Joe C., sporting a mohawk and representin' hometown Detroit with a Tigers jersey, then brought out the black-hat-and-leather-jacket-clad Run-D.M.C., who seemingly have not aged (or purchased new clothing) since they focused America's attention on rap music during this same awards show more than a decade ago.
"King of Rock" then gave way to the bare-chested Kid Rock's "Bawitdaba." And then, reprising their role from D.M.C.'s landmark video, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, the latter of whom could have passed for a member of Bush despite it being the night before his forty-ninth birthday, burst through a wall and into the song "Walk This Way." Tyler and Kid Rock traded vocals (and microphones) through the riotous jam.
Legendary rockers joining legendary rappers joining America's rock/rap sensation?! Yep, this was gonna be one for the ages! What could possibly be next?
After a lot of review...more Aerosmith is mentioned:
The night's big winner was -- insert yawn here -- Lauryn Hill, who took home four awards. Hill is the fulfillment of the Kid Rock/Run-DMC/Aerosmith promise: She's able to blend soul, hip-hop, rock, etc., and all the while keep her bits and pieces covered. Even Rock showed rare respect, "I can't say anything bad about Lauryn."
Aerosmith mentioned by Fuel
At the University of Kentucky they have a daily newspaper called
the Kentucky Kernel. Fuel is playing at a small club in town tonight
and they were mentioned in the paper today, and they talked about Aerosmith.
This is not the whole article, but here's what was said with Aerosmith:
Kentucky Kernel, Sept. 15, 1999, pg 4
...
Fuel is in the second week of a tour slated to last for several
months, including plans to tour Australia. No strangers to the road, Fuel
has toured extensively in the past, including as an opener for glam-rock
gods Aerosmith.
Bell (guitarist and vocalist, mentioned earlier in article) said
that touring with Aerosmith was educational.
"It's great to see how a band at that level tours. They're living
legends, it's intense to look over and see Joe Perry and Steven Tyler
watching you play."

Not The Same Old Song And Dance - Scans Of The Album
Aerosmith On MTV Video Music Awards 1999!!!
Aerosmith (Steven Tyler & Joe Perry) made a special apperance on the MTV Video Music Awards last night. They were on about 20 minutes into the show.
Kid Rock opened up the show with Bawitdaba and then Run DMC came out after him and sang one of their songs. Then Kid Rock stopped and introduced Aerosmith. Steven Tyler & Joe Perry then busted through a wall in the back of one of the isles and Joe Perry started into Walk This Way!!! While they were busting through the wall Joe Perry got his guitar stuck and it looked like Steven dropped his ear piece and had to stick it back in before he started signing. But anyway, they walked trough the audience and made it up to the stage were they joined Kid Rock and Run-DMC. Steven and Kid Rock tossed their mics back and forth and then all three of the groups busted into the second verse of Walk This Way!!! They finished the song and Aerosmith wasn't seen again for the rest of the night.
MTV Video Music Awards 1999 - Clip from Launch.com
The show, hosted by comedian Chris Rock, was highlighted by a blistering performance by Kid Rock. The rocking rapper was joined by surprise guests Run-DMC and Joe Perry and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith on a medley of Run-DMC's "King Of Rock" and "Rock Box," Kid Rock's "Bawitdaba," and Aerosmith's "Walk This Way."
And another one. Also from Launch:
Rapper Kid Rock opened the show with an over-the-top performance that featured cameos from hip-hop legends Run-D.M.C. The New York hip-hop trio teamed with Kid Rock and old friends rockers Aerosmith for a version of the Run-D.M.C./ Aerosmith remake of the rock band's hit "Walk This Way"
MTV Video Music Awards 1999 - from mtv.com
Kid Rock Teams With Run-D.M.C., Aerosmith For VMA Performance
Most rock critics have already made their minds up about Kid Rock, but he changed a least one cynic's mind with his leadoff performance at the VMAs.
VMA host Chris Rock introduced the artist by telling the audience to "Take off your thinking caps and lower your standards," but by the end of the guest-star-studded performance, he was singing a different tune.
Rock, along with the blue-mohawked Joe C. and the rest of his crew, took the stage with his own spin on the Run-DMC classic, "King Of Rock," and after one verse the legendary rap team bounded onto the stage (where DJ Jam Master Jay was already situated) to perform their own "Rock Box" before the one-off supergroup kicked into Kid Rock's "Bawitdaba."
As if the union of Kid Rock and Run-DMC didn't give the audience enough to digest, Run-DMC's one time duet partners, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, appeared from behind the audience (a beat or two off-cue, perhaps) to lead everyone through "Walk This Way."
After the band(s) left the stage, a seemingly impressed Chris Rock remarked, "I guess DMX can't take Kid Rock's woman."

Steven And Joe On Howard Stern!!
Howard Stern recorded his show back-stage at the video music awards and Steven and Joe was on it. It was short and sweet, and they were interviewed along with Kid Rock. But, Steven, of course, got his fair share of air time, and Joe spoke up a few times.
Some things of note:
1. Howard liked Joe's hair. Joe told Howard that it was time for Howard to
get his cut and Howard said he didn't have the courage.;) Somehow, I can't
see Howard in that kind of haircut.;)
2. Joe apparently had his cane with him and Howard asked him what was wrong
with his leg. Joe replied that he was using the cane because Steven's knee
hurt.;) Steven then made a comment like "What's IN the cane?" Joe didn't
indicate there was any particular reason for it.
3. Howard asked them when they would have a new album out. Steven said they
were "going underground" to work on it next week. I assume that means they
will start writing.

här i Sverige. Vi kommer att ta in den på nummer 12305 till ett pris av 139:-."

Some Info On The Tribute Album.... By Tanya
I just picked up my copy of the "Tribute To Aerosmith" - "Not The Same
Old Song And Dance". It's ...well, interesting. After the first
"listening" session, I would have to say I am most impressed with CAATS
with Vince Neil and DTL with Jeff Keith.
It is released by Dead Line Music with a cover that has cows with
piercings in the ears and nose which I am guessing it was to look
similar to the GAP cover. Don't set your expectations too high on this
one. You will have a better understanding after listening to it for
yourself. :o)

Aerosmith's New Year's turns Japanese
Some speculated last year that Aerosmith would not repeat its New Year's Eve
gig at the FleetCenter this year because the band would not be on the road.
But the boys are indeed planning a show that night - but not here. The band
signed a deal to welcome the new century at the Osakadome in Osaka, Japan.

It's official. Aerosmith have confirmed their New Year's gig plans and have made the announcement: Osaka, Japan! Actually there are several dates planned around the end of the year/beginning of the new millennium time at various cities in the exotic Orient. Tokyo and Nagoya are also on the tour schedule as well. They will probably play in Tokyo on January 6th and 7th.

Drive on
Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer is loyal to his favorite tooling-around car,
the Ferrari, despite burning his hand after a fire ignited while he was
gassing up last year. Our spies spotted Kramer scooting around the South
Shore yesterday in a new Ferrari 360 Modena that has a sleek silver exterior
and a red interior. The six-speed Modena is among the fastest Ferraris on the
road and comes with a switch on the dashboard that allows the driver to choose
between ''sport'' and ''normal'' driving. The car cost a smooth $150,000
delivered, tax not included. Sure, but are there cup holders?
