The Flamboyant Front Man for Aerosmith Steven Tyler Throws Out the First Pitch
at the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Game Thursday, September 24
NEW YORK, Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Aerosmith's Steven Tyler has been invited
by the St. Louis Cardinals to throw out the first pitch for their game against
The Montreal Expos, this Thursday, September 24, at Busch Stadium in front of
a sold out crowd of 48,000 fans.
Tyler, in town for Aerosmith's show at the Riverbend Amphitheatre on Friday,
September 25, originally expressed interest in attending the game specifically
to see the record-breaking Mark McGwire in action. The Cardinals then
extended the invitation to have Tyler participate in the event.
Riding high on the charts with the band's #1 single, "I Don't Want To Miss A
Thing," Tyler jumped at the chance. "When I was growing up, I had two
dreams," he said, "and since the Red Sox did not draft me, this is the closest
I'm going to come to fulfilling the second one!"
The Game will start at 7:10 pm CST and is one of the final games of The
Cardinals regular season.

- Aerosmith mention in Rolling Stone
There's a Aero-thing in the October 15th Rolling Stone.
It's titled, "It Only Hurts When I Rock"
And under Steven Tyler there's, injury-torn knee cartilage after a run-in with the base of his microphone stand while dancing. Damage done-14 tour dates canceled. Volume-Most 50 year olds do this while power-walking.
Then for Joey it says, Joey Kramer of Aerosmith.
Injury- Second-degree burns after his Ferrari caught fire while he was getting gas. Damage done-Tour postponed, Ferrari fried. Volume-11 amps (amplifier). He was at the pump with his car running! Topped only by spontaneous combustion while drumming.
It's on page 27. It's the issue with Marilyn Manson on the front.

ALICE COOPER TRIBUTE TO FEATURE METAL STARS GALORE
Cleopatra Records is suddenly becoming a driving force in killer tribute
albums, with works on the way honoring Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, Prince,
and Madonna (allstar, Sept. 23). While details remain sketchy on the
albums, info has emerged which may slate Culture Club's Boy George on
Prince's "When Doves Cry," while the track listing for the Alice Cooper

A slew of heavy metal immortals have contributed to the Cooper album,
whose liner notes read like a who's-who in the heavy metal Hall of Fame.
Included among the bunch are Def Leppard's Joe Elliott and Phil Collen; the

Duff McKagan; Alice in Chains bassist Mike Iniz; former Twisted Sister
vocalist Dee Snider; Don Dokken; Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman of
Megadeth; Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden; Ronnie James Dio; the Sex
Pistols' Steve Jones; and former Cult guitarist Billy Duffy. Motley Crue's
Vince Neil and Mick Mars will also contribute to an as- yet- undecided track.
The album's producer, Bob Kulick (who discussed the making of the album
with allstar on July 1), also plays rhythm guitar on nearly all of the tracks.

for release a few months later in March.

- October '98 issue of Maximum Guitar
Monica Tellez Reports:
I just went out and got the Oct. 98 issue of Maximum Guitar with Korn on
the cover. They have a long article of "The Complete History of Hard
Rock--Featuring Black Sabbath Metallica Megadeath Pantera and More."
Well, being the heavy metal/hard rock fan that I am, I bought it. I was
reading all about Black Sabbath, Zep, Hendrix, Alice Cooper and Deep
Purple when I turned the page and saw a little picture of Joe Perry! I
read the rest of the article and saw one little comment on our Bad
Boys...It said,
"All these bands flamed out by the mid-seventies, brought down by a
combination of drugs, partying, bad management, and hectic recording and
touring schedules. But there was a new generation waiting in the wings.
Mixing the party rock of Grand Funk with the blues of the Stones, and
equaling everyone else's drug intake combined, was Boston's Aerosmith;"
Then it goes on to talk about Kiss and Judas Priest then all the hair
bands of the eighties. I never thought of Aerosmith being in "the new
generation" but I guess it makes sense. All together, a good article,
for all the heavy metal fans out there. I wish they would have had a
little more about Aerosmith, but what am I expecting, respect? LOL

- Aerosmith in Commercial
Carol Thompson Reports:
I was watching CBS tonight and saw a commercial for a new TV show starting
this Wednesday at 8:00 (I think) called Maggie something-or-other.
Anyway, what caught my eye was that the clip showed the star of the show
standing at her apartment door, the shot was from the outside looking into
her apartment. On the wall I SWEAR I saw an Aerosmith poster! It was in
the upper left corner of the wall, and I think there was a poster of the
band underneath it.

- Steven Interview
Yesterday Steven Tyler was beeing interviewed on Radio 96Rock.
If you want a "Transcript" of it made by Merry (Thanks!)
Well after Steven was 45 mins late. (and I was pacing my living room for an
hour) The interview started with the DJ playing a little harmonica.
Then Steven did a little thing with his voice and then said "See you got
your harp, I got mine, my jaw harp."
They talked about the Black Crows and the DJ talked and asked things about
how long they are always on tour. (Sorry there is just so much, its hard
to type it all up.)
Anyway the first girl got to ask her question after telling Steven she use
to live in Boston. She told him she had their first two vinyl records.
Steven told her to bring it to the gig and he would sign them. She said
she was not going to the gig. ( :o( Crazy girl hehehe). The her question
for him was did they ever get to play at the Boston Tea Party. Steven
told her no, but he thought Joe Perry did when he did The Joe Perry Project.
Then I was introduced. :o) I said Hi Steven. And he said "There's just
something about Mary." I just giggled and then he said "Talk to me girl".
I feel like a dummy hehe. I was so nervious all I could say was (again) "
Hi Steven I just wanted to tell you that you are my hero." He said, "You
think?" I replied "No, I know. You have inpired me in such a way this
past year. That you just would not believe (or something like that. Sorry
I am trying to remember this all correctly)" He said, "Aw that's sweet.
That's terrific, I hope it was something I said." I replied, "It was
something you did, and said." He just kept saying it was sweet, and thank
you. Then I just asked my question. Sorry, I had a pathetic one. But it
pasted the screening the DJ's did. LOL!! I just had to ask something I
thought they would want. So I asked Steven "I know you came up with the
title for your new live album, "A Little South of Sanity" and wondered
where you came up with that." He replied, "with the life I lead?" Of
course we all laughed. Then he just played around about the names. And
all I could do at this point was giggle. (Jeez…I feel like an idiot now)
Then they said well thanks for calling Merry and I said 'Oh thank you!!"
and that was it for me.
The next guy told Steven that he got a chance to meet him in Boston at Mama
Kin's and asked him a question that he never really answered. Steven said,
"oh that was wrong. Sorry." So the guy asked him again. He asked why they
stayed in the game (well basically). Steven's answer in Boston has simply
been "The Money" and he had laughed it off. So, Steven said, that had been
one of those moments when it was suppose to be hahahaha. But the truth of
it was that it was not all about the money. To sum up what he said, he
simply went into talking about how much he enjoys getting on stage and
seeing the other guys. And just rocking out.
The last girl got on. And asked, "After all these years, and all the places
you go to, why do you still choose to live in Boston?" To simplify his
answer to this, he said, "Well, you know if I lived in Maui for a year,
then he might move there. But then he said, "what do you mean LIVE?" The
most time I have spent at home was this past summer because of my knee."
Well that is pretty much it. Sorry I didn't go into it more. But I will
post when I get the clips on my page for you all. :o) And after they come
here next week, I will add new clips from the interview that is scheduled.
Later,
^^A^^ fan for life,
Merry

- Joe Perry Birthday Article
Everyday the "Addicted To Noise" website profiles a famous musician whose birthday it is and yesterday Joe Perry got the treatment.
This was found on "Addicted To Noise".
http://www.addictedtonoise.com on Sept 10th, 1998
Everyday they profile a famous musician whose birthday it is and on September 10th Joe Perry got the treatment.
There was also picture of Joe from the mini poster inside Pump.
Aerosmith's Joe Perry
Today is the 48th birthday of Aerosmith guitarist Anthony
Joseph Perry,
better known as Joe, who was born in Boston. Aerosmith were
one of the
most popular hard rock groups of the '70s and have enjoyed
a creative and
popular resurgence since the mid-'80s.
Perry met singer Steven Tyler in an ice cream parlor and
they decided to
form a band with bassist Tom Hamilton, with whom Perry had
played in the
Jam Band. After adding guitarist Brad Whitford and drummer
Joey Kramer,
the band gigged around Boston and named themselves
Aerosmith in 1970.
Clive Davis, now head of Arista Records, signed Aerosmith
to Columbia in
1972. On their eponymous 1973 debut album, Aerosmith
created the mold
for the '70's power ballad with their classic "Dream On."
Get Your Wings
(1974) spent 86 weeks on the Billboard album chart as
Aerosmith
relentlessly toured the U.S. 1975's Toys In The Attic,
filled with spare riffs
and sexual double entendres, broke the band big in America.
"Dream On"
was quickly reissued and made the top 10 singles chart.
After releasing
the popular, critically lauded Rocks (1976), Aerosmith
again hit the top 10
with "Walk This Way," the last release from Toys. After a
short break
came Draw The Line, which was certified platinum despite
critical drubbing.
Aerosmith seemed tired at this point, and performed the
Beatles' "Come
Together" in the disastrous film "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely
Hearts Club Band."
The aptly titled Night in the Ruts (1979) appeared as Perry
announced he was leaving to form the Joe
Perry Project. Whitford soon departed as well. Aerosmith
carried on without them on 1982's Rock in a
Hard Place. Meanwhile, various members battled debilitating
drug addictions. Perry and Whitford
returned in 1984 and the band issued Done With Mirrors
(1986), which showed signs of rejuvenation.
Tyler and Perry resurrected Aerosmith's popularity by
appearing on Run D.M.C.'s rap cover of "Walk
This Way" and its accompanying video.
Now signed to Geffen
Records, Aerosmith began taking the
charts by storm again with Permanent Vacation (1987). While
Perry and Tyler had composed most of
the band's songs in the past, this album marked the start
of collaborations with outside songwriters
such as Holly Knight and Desmond Child. The results were
such smashes as "Dude (Looks Like a
Lady)" and "Rag Doll," beginning one of the greatest
comebacks in rock history. Pump was even more
popular, selling four million copies and spawning top 10s
such as "Love in an Elevator." Debuting at #1,
Get a Grip (1993) sounded much like its two predecessors.
Switching back to Columbia via a hyped multimillion dollar
contract, Aerosmith unveiled Nine Lives in
1997, after troubles with managers and producers. The album
sold poorly compared with the band's past
few, but just when Aerosmith seemed headed for another
slump, they rebounded with the #1 song "I
Don't Want To Miss a Thing," from the film "Armageddon."
Aerosmith will release a live album, A Little South Of
Sanity, next month.
Other birthdays: Roy Ayers, 58; Danny Hutton (Three Dog
Night), 56; Jose Feliciano, 53; Barriemore
Barlow (Jethro Tull), 49; Johnny Fingers (Boomtown Rats),
42; Siobhan Fahey (Bananarama,
Shakespeare's Sister), 38; and David Lowery (Cracker,
Camper Van Beethoven), 38.

- "Columbia House"
This months monthly mailer from The music club "Columbia House" Includes a pamphlet called "Legends Of Guitar: A
Music Special Edition." and On page 9 there is a section for Joe Perry:
JOE PERRY
"Aerosmith's Joe Perry started out trying to match his hero, Jimmy Page,
lick-for-lick. As time went on, however, Perry's style quickly
developed into something quite unique, and he and fellow six-stringer
Brad Whitford became one of rock's great guitar tandems. Their sly
blend of swampy blues solos and boogie-woogie rock 'n' roll riffs has
kept the band going for nearly three decades."
There is also a picture of Joe. It's a close-up of a 70's era photo of
Joe during a guitar solo with kind of a goofy grin on his face.

US Billboard Charts
Here's where Aerosmith stand on next week's
U.S. Billboard top 250 album & "Hot 100 Singles" charts:
The "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" single continued it's reign
at the #1 position on the Singles charts for the second week in a row!
The "Armageddon" soundtrack climbed up 1 point from last week
to end up @ #3...Now, in it's 10th week of release!
By the way...this was a dead heat to the Barenaked Ladies album "Stunt." The soundtrack beat "Stunt" by only a few hundred copies! Selling another 122,000 copies in
the process! Hmmm...do I smell "Triple Platinum" just around the corner
"Big Ones" fell 8 points from last week to end up at #214...
Now, in it's 10th week back on the charts!
"Nine Lives" fell another 12 points this week to end up at #244....
Now, in it's 76th week of release!
- Aerosmith in Sweden
IDWTMAT came in at #1 on todays "Tracks"
(Hit Chart on Swedish Radio, P3)
After they had played it they mentioned why Aerosmith had Cancelled their shows. First Steven hurt his knee and then that the Drummer (That would be Joey :) had burned himself. and then they said that they were gonna be back on the road soon (Like if we didn't know that allready:)
And last Wednesday the IDWTMAT Video came in as #3
on Voxpop (On Swedish TV, SVT1)
And In the news segment of the same show they said:
"The Veteran Rockers, Aerosmith with the the 50 year old front man, Steven Tyler now dumps the Rock n' Roll myth.
Forget about Sex, Drugs and the hard life now they have become addicted to something else.... Touring! Untill Christmas the group will play 46 shows and they have allready played 169 shows on their Tour. Aerosmith's manager says everything else is put aside. Can't it be that they are to old for the other things, we wonder?"
Ofcourse they said it in Swedish but they said something like that. while saying that they played "Love In an Elevator" in the background.
- Aerosmith in Australia
I Don't Want to Miss a Thing went to #2 in Australia last week.

- Classics Live Complete
"A Little South of Sanity" wont be the only Live album released in '98 since Columbia Records has now released "Classics Live Complete"
"Classics Live Complete" is not a new album since it's really just Classics Live and Classics Live II on one CD. The album cover is similar to the originals except it's in black (rather than red or blue). The booklet inside is a combine of the books for the seperate 20 bit SBM CDs. And The cover of it has a 1998 copyright on it.
It might only be released outside the US (like the "Greatest Hits 73-88" CD). The only person i've heard of that has found a copy so far is Clive D. Newton and he found his copy in HMV, UK
- Aerosmith on US Billboard
Aerosmith are No. 1 on the "Hot 100 Singles" charts for the second week in a row with IDWTMAT!
The Armageddon Soundtrack is back up to No. 3 on the Top 250 albums Chart!
Billboard posts:
Powered by the Aerosmith single "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing," the Columbia
soundtrack to "Armageddon" hops up to No. 3, on sales of 122,000 units

Come and Get Those (Aerosmith) Memories
Speaking of local dysfunctional families, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler takes
advantage of a cover feature on the band in the upcoming Music Choice magazine
to mouth off about being scorned in a recent issue of Rolling Stone. That
music mag reported last month that Tyler's ex-wife, Cyrinda Foxe-Tyler, is
peddling a "new, 'improved' " paperback edition of "Dream On", her tale of
Aerosmith's days of debauchery. The tome is to include more memories of the
band's substance-addled past, and pictures that "leave nothing to the
imagination", according to Rolling Stone writer David Sprague, who is not
looking forward to the book's release. "We hate to spend too long thinking
about the spectacle--lunch being around the corner and all that", Sprague
wrote. Tyler tells Music Choice that some reporters have a vendetta against
the Aerosmith "boys". "That's the problem with journalists", he says. "They
think their opinions matter. They don't".

- Aerosmith and MTV Video Music Awards
Sooky J Reports:
I heard on my local CT radio station yesterday that our boys do,indeed, plan/want to attend this year's but there could be potential difficulties because the awards fall smack dab in the middle of 2 concerts...the radio announcer said that if there is the remotest chance they DON'T make it, then there will definitely be a live simulcast for all us diehards.

- Live Album
I E-mailed Magus Entertainment (MagusEnter@aol.com)
and asked them if the upcoming live album wasn't going to include
any new songs. Here's what i got in reply:
I'm sorry but there are only two songs from the Nine Lives Album and no
new ones on a 'A Little South of Sanity'. We just ran out of space and
time - too much good stuff to choose from!
Too bad, i really hoped that they were gonna have some new songs on it
