Billboard Charts
I've heard that Aerosmith now holds the number 6 spot for Mainstream Rock on the Billboard Charts with Angel's Eye!
I don't know where that rumor came from though, I haven't been able to confirm it...
Boston Herald
In today's Boston Herald on page 34 there is an article about the guitar exhibit at the Museum Of Fine Arts Boston, and a picture of Joe Perry with J. Giles

Steven Remembers Lennon (from AF1)
As AF1 reported earlier, Steven took part in celebrating the late John Lennon's 60th Birthday. In this week's Rolling Stone (November 9, 2000 issue Al Gore cover), Steven joins a caliber of artists and musicians in "John Lennon Remembered," where thirty-four artists talk about the life and work and where they were when they heard the news of John's death.
"I remember going to write alone up in New Hampshire - to get in touch with my insides. Then, when I heard the news, it was almost too much for my insides to handle. It ripped out a piece of me - I don't know how to say it any other way. I was so angry for so long - I was physically angry for years after that f*cker shot him. It felt good to have a cry because I was so f*ckin' pissed off.
As a kid, I used to go down to [Greenwich] Village all the time and fantasize I was going to bump into one of the Beatles or Stones. I never got to meet John, but I always felt like I knew him anyway. The Beatles taught us to fly, and John taught us to free-fall back to earth. All songwriters ever want to do is crawl inside other people's souls and psyches, and somehow change everything. Jesus, what part of John or the Beatles did not get inside every one of us?"
-Steven Tyler

Steven and Joe Visit Harvard (from AF1)
Steven, Joe, Marti Frederiksen and Mark Hudson crept out of the studio to visit Harvard University as uber-producer and "fifth Beatle," Sir George Martin, delivered a 90 minute lecture on Sgt. Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band and how he made it with the Beatles. Sir George spoke inside of Sanders Theatre as a part of Harvard's continued tradition of the Revels, a celebration of changing seasons. After the intuitive lecture, Steven and Joe, switched roles for a moment - going to the green room for an artist meet and greet!
The Doors tribute
I can now tell you that the rumor that said there was gonna be another version of Love Me Two Times on the Doors tribute album was false, the Aerosmith cut is the same as on Air America...

Upcoming Aero-Related Releases!
Scott Swinsburg decided to write down all of the upcoming Aerosmith related releases that he could think of, and of course I then share that list with you...
As always when Scott does something there's alot of interesting info involved and to be honest I had actually forgotten about a bunch of these things... And I don't know if all these things are actually true or if they were only rumors... But read it trough anyway... It's interesting...
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Of course, Aerosmith's new studio track "Angel's Eye" will be released on
Tuesday, October 24th, 2000 on the "Charlie's Angels" soundtrack album.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are among the featured artists on the upcoming
"World Voice 2000" record on which artists recite prayers written by Pope
John Paul II. World Voice 2000" was supposed to be released in September of
2000 on Columbia Records but has been pushed back for some reason. The CD
will contain about 30 readings, and it will be produced in English, Spanish,
Italian and Portuguese.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Boston radio station "WCBN" will released the album "Naked Disc 4Play" on
Tuesday, November 7th, 2000 and will include an "Old School Bonus Track" by
Aerosmith, a live version of "Walk This Way" which was recorded on March
24th, 1978 at The Music Hall (now The Wang Center). The CD will be
available in most boston area stores and proceeds will benefit several
charities, including Stop Handgun Violence, the Institute for Arts Therapy,
and the Boston Living Center.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Also, on Tuesday, November 14th is supposed to see the release of the long
awaited Doors tribute album "Stoned Immaculate." Now, this album will
include Aerosmith covering "Love Me Two Times." Now, their have been rumors
that it might be a remixed, live, or even new version rather than the
version that Aerosmith released on the "Air America" soundtrack album ten
years ago.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Run DMC album "Crown Royal"
Now, Sonicnet.com says this album will be released on Tuesday, December
12th, 2000. The album has been finished for quite some time yet legal
issues with all the guest stars on the album have delayed it MANY times. The
reason I'm saying this is that their is a rumor that Steven Tyler and Joe
Perry recorded a remake of the DMC classic "It's Tricky" and it will be
included on this album. Now, this rumor has not been shot down from EITHER
the DMC camp or the Aerosmith camp so everyone is still awaiting official
word on if the song was made or not. I think it was just a plan to record
it, and nothing ever happened...but I could be wrong.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
There may be a sequal to the [GULP] "Not The Same Old Song And Dance"
tribute album. Bob Kulick has reportly recorded guitar on "Lord Of The
Thighs" for "Not The Same Old Song And Dance Volume 2."
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Other albums on the way include a Rick Dufay debut solo album "C'MON" and
the album "Sneak Preview" by "Rough Cutt" which will include Jimmy Crespo.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Steven Tyler is working on a album called "Mob Story: A Hip-Hopra" which has
been as a "mob story done in rap." Steven will be credited under his real
name Steven Tallarico. Producer Jack Douglas is producing the project.
Vincent Pastore and Tony Sirico from the TV show "The Sorpranos," Kamal from
the comedy act The Jerky Boys and Joe Perry will also take part in this
album. To be honest, I do not know exactly what this project is and what
Steven and Joe's roles will actually be, but we will have to wait and see.
No record label has been set yet but Jack Douglas said the following "We're
putting it out ourselves, until we can find a distributor." Take that for
what you will.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Joe Perry's appearance on the group "The Sound Kings" song "Invisible" which
was released on MP3.com in March of 2000 will be included on The Sound Kings
debut album which is supposed to be released in Fall of 2000.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Aerosmith has agreed to record to appear in a film and on a soundtrack
chronicling Sun Records. Now, it has not been announced when this project
will get done or released but it has been announced that PBS will broadcast
a two-hour tribute in December of 2001. No word yet on what song Aerosmith
will record.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Rumors
Also, there are rumors that Steven Tyler will appear on a Joni Mitchell
tribute album on a song with Keith Richards. And, Steven will also make an
appearance on the "The Twisted Brown Trucker Band" debut album. And, that
Steven will appear on a song by the UK pop band "Steps." *Shiver*
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Various other things
Also...If the book "Be Cool" is made into a movie...the boys should do a
song for the soundtrack. Joe Perry and Jack Douglas are working on a Score
for the movie "New York Minute." There also should be a soundtrack album for
the 2002 Olympic Games which should include the "Sweet Emotion '99" track.
Also, maybe the video releases of "Goodnight Joseph Parker" and/or
"Clubland."
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Also, Spitfire Records is trying to get the rights to the Joe Perry Project
album "Once A Rocker, Always A Rocker" and the "Whitford/St. Holmes" album.
But, so far it is not finalised and they have yet to be re-released. The
JPP album MAY include a second CD of material.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
And...of course, the new Aerosmith studio album. Lucky number 13! This
will probally be released on April of 2001. Over FOUR years since "Nine
Lives"...Ugh.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
And then Clive D. Newton gave his expert thoughts on the list so I thought I'd include that too:
The World Voice 2000 seems to have gone AWOL.
The Stoned Immaculate is believed to be the one on Air America.
RUN DMC - Crown Royal - Dec 12 (I'll believe it when I see it as last I
read they are unsure it will ever see light of day). I don't believe the
It's Tricky ever materialised even when it was due out last year. The
album started off being a double and think was compacted to a single LP
and all press releases since by Arista etc haven't mentioned Aerosmith
at all.
Rough Cutt - Wasn't sure if Sneak Preview EP is out yet or not. Its
being produced by one of the ex-Rough Cutt bassist as Rough Cutt have
been around a while (mid 80s) in one format or another and basically a
vehicle for Paul Shortino. They do play RIAHP and Lightning Strikes
live!
As to Spitfire Records, their MD or whatever said that was an idea then
they have since dropped it, ie to release the Whit/St Holmes and Project
LP (OARAAR).
As to the remakes recently of Sweet Emotion and Back In The Saddle,
hopefully these will pop onto on future singles when Sony are scratching
about for things to put on them with the main title (ie in most of
Europe, CD singles are 4 track). Hopefully they'll scratch any rubbish
remixes they have been pushing on us.

Good quality versions of Angel's Eye
Columbia Records official website for the Charlie's Angels Soundtrack has been updated to include 30 secs of
the tune (that you can download). They did overlook to put Angel's Eye in the included tracks list.
Whilst the quality of the snippet is good, it only captures and pre-section before the chorus and part of the chorus and not the thundering riff during the verses.
http://columbiarecords.com/charliesangels/
I can also tell you that there's now a good copy of Angel's Eye on Napster. It's also recorded from the radio but sounds way better than the old one. You can look for the filename "Aerosmith - Angel's Eye [Good Quality].mp3"... there are of course be other versions of it too but this was the one I downloaded anyway...

There are a couple of pictures of Mia in the November issue of Seventeen Magazine, she is wearing an Aero inspired Tee with her bottem lip pierced...

Steven Tyler on John Lennon
They had that radio program tonight on John Lennon in honor of his 60th birthday (which would have been today), and Steven Tyler gave a quote. Here it is, paraphrased...:
"He got under my skin with his lyrics and his sense of humor...his style of
dress, the way he wore his glasses, he made it cool to wear glasses and not
be a dork. He didn't influence my career, he influenced my life."
Steven also sang a line or two from "I Am The Walrus"...

Angel's Eye online
There's now a crappy recording of Angel's Eye available on the net. The sound quality really sucks but atleast you can hear how it sounds... Anyway, I suggest you try Napster, you should be able to find it there...
In my opinion it's a pretty good rocker, Nine Lives style ... It's not another sappy ballad as many feared...
Hopefully someone else will record it so we'll get a better recording soon but until then...

Music Hall (now the Wang Center) in 1978.
The CD will be available in most stores and proceeds
will benefit several charities, including Stop Handgun

Angel's Eye DOES exist and IS beeing played on the radio
I'm sorry about my post two days ago... I've now recieved a bunch of e-mails telling me that the news song has been played a bunch of times on a few radio stations...
I don't know why it hasn't been played more though, but one possible reason could be what a programmer on 101FM WRIFI (Detroit) told a fan who asked about the song...
According to him the song had been sent to the station but then it was immediately pulled because it was not going to be included on the soundtrack. He said the song definetely exists but the Aerosmith camp pulled it within hours of getting it there.
Note, I do NOT know if this is true...

A quick one on Rough Cutt...
Jimmy Crespo's new band, Rough Cutt, are playing Aerosmith tunes like "Lightning Strikes" and "Rock In A Hard Place" in their live set....
USA Today
In the Friday, Oct. 6, USA Today the following, about the Charlie's Angels soundtrack, was in the Life section. They had Aerosmith included as one of the contributors...
'Charlie's Angels' will pop with diverse music artists
Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu aren't the only stars featured in 'Charlie's Angels', which opens Nov. 3. The film soundtrack, arriving Oct. 24, will showcase new material from diverse pop artists.
In addition to the single 'Independent Women, Part 1', a current hit for hip-hop-soul girl group Destiny's Child, the CD will include an Aerosmith track, 'Angel's Eye', and a song called 'Tangerine Speedo' from
up-and-coming modern-rock band Caviar. It also will feature an updated version of the 'Charlie's Angel's' theme by Apollo 440, and 'Ya Mama', the first single from Fatboy Slim's albun, due Nov. 7.
'Every song on the soundtrack is in the movie', says Glen Brunman, president of Sony Music Soundtrax, which is releasing the CD. 'To have a hit soundtrack, you need a meaningful use of the music in the movie. You won't have to go looking for these songs; they'll be there to help get the meaning of the movie across'.
- Elysa Gardner.

Don't really have any news today...
... but I just wanna let you know that we've yet to find one radio station that actually
has this new song "Angel's Eye".
According to AF1 it was released to U.S. radio stations
this week, but it's looking like they got that release date wrong by at least a week (if the song even exists??)...
You would think that they, if anyone, would know these things but obviously they don't... Personally I believe that the AF1 website has just fucked up once more... It's not like it's the first time... :(

Another article on the Sun Records thing... (Boston Herald)
Stars come out for Sun (Records)
Entertainment Briefs
Tuesday, October 3, 2000
Musical legends including Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan,
the Who and Elton John will put on their blue suede
shoes for a 50th anniversary film and soundtrack tribute
to pioneering rock 'n' roll label Sun Records. A likely
highlight: McCartney singing ``That's All Right,''
recorded by Elvis Presley at one of his earliest Sun
sessions in 1954, with the former Beatle backed by
guitarist Scotty Moore and drummer D.J. Fontana, who
played behind Elvis in that session nearly 50 years ago.
Other stars include Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Jeff Beck,
Chrissie Hynde, Rod Stewart, Van Morrison, Mark
Knopfler, Bryan Ferry and Aerosmith, among many
others. (We called Aerosmith's people to find out what
they're going to play, and they insisted on a three-way
fax exchange to get the answer, so we passed.) These
artists will perform the music of Presley, Carl Perkins,
Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash and other
pioneers from the Sun stable of producer Sam Phillips.
PBS will broadcast a two-hour tribute in December 2001.
Compiled by Joel Brown from staff and wire reports.

Aerosmith to record cover of an old Rock N Roll song?
From www.ananova.com:
The knight sings The King
Sir Paul McCartney is to record Elvis Presley's That's All Right, backed by the King of Rock's original band.
The former Beatle is among a host of stars who will appear in a film and on a soundtrack chronicling Sun Records - the original home of rock.
Variety magazine reports that Bob Dylan, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Jeff Beck, Chrissie Hynde, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Van Morrison, Mark Knopfler, Bryan Ferry, the Who and Aerosmith have all agreed to take part.
They will perform the music of Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash and other pioneers from the Sun stable.

Steven Tyler quote
This was in todays Boston Herald, Inside Track section:
Questions-You-Won't-Hear-At-Tonight's-Debate File:
Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler said if he were grilling the White
House hopefuls, he'd ask Al Gore: "Would you change your policy towards
Cuba if you knew 'embargo' spelled backwards was 'O, grab me?"
Which leads us to wonder: Did Bubba know that???

------------------------------------------
Reading this update again from Sony last Tuesday, I'm starting to wonder
if the track listing above is FINAL as this update mentions about
it carrying 2 new songs and what they are- but no reference to one being
Aerosmith.
Aerosmith were apparently mixing this track the week before. Being its
called Angel's Eye sort of correlates with Charlie's Angel but is
looking as its not on the album. Some tracks that are in films don't end
on on soundtracks and maybe its being saved for their album or a single
release. Of course it could be people doing a 2+2=5 and this track isn't
for this soundtrack but another. We had this some reports saying Back In
The Saddle was on Gone In 60 Sec.
Here is the official Columbia Release weblink (and no Aerosmith):
