AEROSMITH To Tour US In Late Summer/Early Fall - May 30, 2002
AEROSMITH are tentatively due to kick off their headlining tour in early August on the east coast and move to the Midwest in September. After a 10-day break, the group will blitz through the southeast, Texas and the west and then end the trek mid-November in the Pacific Northwest. Although presently unconfirmed, it appears that roughly 90% of these shows will take place outdoors.
- Pollstar comments on the dates...
Cindyd on the AF1 board wrote to Pollstar after they took down the dates, and this is what they responded:
The dates were released pre-maturely by the agent. Management didn't want them released yet.
We are expecting the "go ahead" to list the dates in the very near future.
Just hang tight!! We'll have them soon!

- Regarding ICONS on MTV Germany
I've now been told that they did air it, but first in the program it was written down that ICON would only be aired for 1 and a half hours but they changed it into 2 hours. So that was the change in the program.

Camel - Moonmadness (1976)
Soulfire - "Dreams" (2002?)
Soulfire - "Then" (2002)
[ These two MP3s contains some very nice instrumental symphonic progressive rock/metal (an "highly orchestral mix of metal and classical music", as someone on the "Perpetual Motion" board wrote). From what I understand, Soulfire is a project from Iceland, with all the music written and performed (yes, all the instruments!) by this one talented kid at only 15(!) years of age.
He actually is quite versatile as well, because he normally plays drums in a hardcore band called Fake Disorder, and was chosen best drummer at the biggest Icelandic band contest this year.
Apparently the music he makes in the project "Soulfire" resembles acts like Sunblaze and Within Temptation, but I can't really say as I've never heard Sunblaze and only heard very little by Within Temptation. What I can tell, however, is that the music sounds very good.
He recorded a bunch of songs in his home, the quality isn't all that too good, but still quite passable considering all the circumstances, and the fact that he plays everything himself. This is of course far from being a finished product, and it doesn't contain any vocals (I don't know if he intends it to be just instrumental or not), but I know his plans are of having a whole orchestra of band members with him. He's actually written 6-8 guitarparts for instance.
The link is below that takes you to the download page of www.rokk.is
(yep, in Iceland, "Rock" is spelled "Rokk", hehe).
http://www.rokk.is/default.asp?Flytjandi_ID=84&sida=um_flytjanda
Check out the song "Dreams" first, and then the song "Then." I've got yet to download (damn this slow connection!) the third song he's got up there, "A Fateful Eve," but I'm sure it's worth a listen too... ]

- Girls Of Summer on billboard charts
Girls Of Summer has apparently debuted at number 40 on the Billboard Mainstream Chart...
- Boston Magazine
This months Boston magazine is telling about different things for their 40th anniversary. For the top 40 songs, Aerosmith came in at #1 for Walk This Way.
- Tom Hamilton also to appear at the R&R Convention 2002
From BLABBERMOUTH.NET:
AEROSMITH To Appear At R&R Convention, Hit Movie Theaters - May 29, 2002
AEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler and bassist Tom Hamilton will appear in an intimate setting to discuss their careers and perspectives on the music industry in a general session on Friday, June 14th at R&R Convention 2002.
At the R&R session, Steven and Tom will debut the studio tracks from AEROSMITH's forthcoming album and play the band's video for the current single, "Girls of Summer".
The R&R Convention is the record industries' and radios largest combined gathering of recording industry executives, radio professionals and recording artists. Held annually, the convention features a mix of keynote speakers (this year's keynote address will be delivered by industry legend Clive Davis), panels, workshops and evening entertainment. It is also where the R&R Industry Achievement Awards are announced each year.
In other news, the Dodge vehicle brand has announ ced Legends of Rock—Legends of Roll, a summer promotion that puts AEROSMITH and Dodge vehicles together on movie screens nationwide and awards 500 AEROSMITH fans a private concert by the legendary band.
A 60-second Dodge/AEROSMITH commercial — also titled Legends of Rock—Legends of Roll — debuted on May 24th and is scheduled to run through June 28 in 2,400 movie theaters (18,000 screens) in the continental United States. The spot concludes with a sweepstakes offer, excluding Florida, in which one lucky winner and 500 of his or her closest friends will be treated to an invitation-only AEROSMITH concert. The sweepstakes ends on July 19th, with the winner to be announced later in the year. In addition to the top prize, Dodge and AEROSMITH collectibles will be given away weekly.
- Mia Tyler to form a band, according to NY Post gossip column
On the plus side
THE Tyler name is going to live on in rock 'n' roll, if Steve's daughter,
Mia, has anything to do with it. Mia, who has had success as a plus-size
model, was at the launch party for Grace magazine (which celebrates
ample-bodied women) the other night and told Webster Hall art curator Baird
Jones of her plans.
"I've decided to put together a rock group and get into the studio and see
how it goes," she said. "I've been keeping a diary for years, and some of the
entries read like song lyrics."
Mia's not bothering to learn an instrument though. "I'll be the lead singer,
and just use my lips," she said. And has her wild dad, Steve, been
encouraging? "Sure, but he always says he appreciates my suggestions and then
never acts on them," she said.
- Perry unsure about Aerosmith's future...
Joe Perry recently did a radio interview with a Las Vegas station.
Per the original post on the AF1 board, when he was asked why they are releasing another greatest hits album Joe said...
"We aren't sure how much longer we are goin to be around so we wanted to put
together what we thought was a good compilation of the hits from Columbia to
Geffen and back.
We wrote two new songs that I think are good and will put them on the new
ultimate package."

Aerosmith
Lay It Down
Ruby red, her lips were on fire
Do me with a kiss if you please
Tell me what your sweet heart desires
Tell he how you want it to be
'Cause if its love you want then you won't mind
A little tenderness that sometimes is so hard to find
(Lay it down)
Lay it down - make it alright
(Lay it down)
Lay it down - hold you so tight
(Lay it down)
Ohh, before a moment light
Is goin' to be alright
Ohh - lay it down
Come and lay it down tonight
Tell me how you feel when we make love
Tell me is it real or just make believe
You will never know what you're made of
'Till you open up your heart to receive
'Caus if the love you gots that same old crime
We're talkin' tenderness that's so hard to find
And I'm here to remind you
(Lay it down)
Lay it down - make it alright
(Lay it down)
Lay it down - hold you so tight
(Lay it down)
Yah, before a moment light
Is goin' to be alright
Ohh - lay it down
Come and lay it down tonight
You remember the times
Talkin' in your sleep
With a body full of promise you never gonna keep
From your best friends lover
You dreamt to find a man
When you're pullin' under covers the voices in your head sayin'
If you want it bad
You dont never let it slip away
'Caus if it's love you want then tenderness
(Lay it down)
Lay it down - make it alright
(Lay it down)
Lay it down - hold you so tight
(Lay it down)
Ohh, before a moment light
Is goin' to be alright
Ohh - lay it down
Gonna lay it down tonight
Before i come around tonight
You gotta lay it down
- Aerosmith CDs copyproof?
In this months Rolling Stone there was a thing regarding trying to stop CD-Copying and how artists such as Aerosmith has tried to do it. They also mentioned that you can find a full list at fatchucks.com.
There one can find out that Young Lust has been copy protected and so are some of the Just Push Play CDs sent out. This means you can't copy the files onto a computer and make them .mp3... well, not as easily anyway (it is possible, with some hardware and software easier than with others)...

Apparently the Aerosmith/Dodge "Legends of..."-commercial has begun to be shown at the movies now. It's an advertisement for the dodge concert contest. It shows pictures and video clips while playing 'Just Push Play'. It's like a good minute to minute and a half long, or more.

- Aerosmith backstage passes in Team Dodge Sweepstakes
Racing Wannabe Attending Sunday's Winston Cup Race in Las Vegas as Winner of
the "Team Dodge Sales Event Sweepstakes"
Las Vegas, Mar 1, 2002 - As much as she'd like to, Kathleen McClure won't be
able to drive in the UAW/DaimlerChrysler 400 Winston Cup Series race in Las
Vegas this Sunday, but she's thrilled to be attending as the grand prize
winner of the "Team Dodge Sweepstakes."
McClure, 42, of Grayslake, Ill., has been driving Dodge vehicles since 1990.
She entered the contest when she picked up her new Dodge Caravan minivan
from Gurnee Dodge of Gurnee, Ill.
McClure is attending the race with nine of her friends. As winner of the
grand prize, she was able to choose from one of four trips. The choices,
valued at almost $15,000, included: an Aerosmith concert with backstage
passes and a chance to meet the band; Professional Bull Riders Association
finals in Las Vegas; the NHL's All-Star hockey game in Denver; or passes to
the Team Dodge pits during the NASCAR race in Las Vegas.
"More than anything, the idea of speed and adventure made me choose this
prize," she said explaining her choice of the NASCAR race. "If I could, I'd
be out there driving myself."
This is the second year that the UAW/DaimlerChrysler has sponsored the Las
Vegas race. The race will be televised beginning at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time
on the Fox television network.
Dodge also is awarding five regional prizes worth $2,500 each to winners in
each of DaimlerChrysler's five Business Centers. Regional prizes include
Dodge collectible merchandise such as jackets, sweatshirts, hats and
jewelry. Regional winners were announced in mid-November.
Dodge received more than 60,000 entries nationwide for the "Team Dodge
Sweepstakes" promotion.

Japanese Aero-head, Atsushi Matustani, reports that "Lay It Down" has been On Air on an an FM Program in Japan! Apparently, it's a ballad...
- Lay It Down lyrics and download!
On a message board [click here], a mp3 of Lay it Down and its lyrics were posted!
I'm not sure where this info originated from, but on the same message board it was posted that... "Devante and Frederickson helped the toxic turds write this song. Devante is some huge "hit maker" guy who has done songs for all these R&B artists."
The lyrics goes something like what follows...
Ruby red her lips were on fire
Do me with a kiss if you please
Tell me what your sweet heart desires
Tell me how you want it to be
Cause if it's love you want then you wont mind
A little tenderness that sometimes is so hard to find
Lay it down
Lay it down

Lay it down
Lay it down
I'll hold you so tight
Lay it down
Before the mornin' light It's gonna be alright
Lay it down
Come and lay it down tonight
Tell me how you feel when we make love
Tell me is it real or just make belive
You will never know what you're made of
Till you open up your heart to receive
Cause if the love you got's that same old grind (?)
We're talkin' tenderness that's so hard to find and I'm here to remind you
Lay it down
Lay it down
Make it alright
Lay it down
Lay it down
I'll hold you so tight
Lay it down
Before the mornin' light It's gonna be alright
Lay it down
Come and lay it down tonight
(Then there's a bridge that's kinda hard to make out the lyrics)
then the chrous is repeated.
---------
Heck, this is even worse than "Girls Of Summer". Are there still two guitarists in this band? If so, I sure can't hear them. OK, the song is not That bad, but this sure ain't the same band that I used to love so much... :(
The chorus brings The Beatles' "Let It Be" to mind a little (only a little though, the songs are very different from each other), just too bad The Beatles classic is like a million times better... Sorry, but this song doesn't do much for me at all.

- Draw The Line (remix) info
Several people has e-mailed me, pointing out that the "Draw the Line (remix)" on the new CD, is most likely the remixed version off of "Pandora's Box", which clocked in at 3:43 on the 2nd disc of "Pandora's Box" instead of the 3:23 from the original album. All and
all they sounded the same, just a little longer ending, much like what was done to Last Child. So.. odds are it isn't anything new... :(
The info on this track in Pandora's Box read:
"Remix of the original version from the album Draw The Line. Recorded at the Cenacle, Armonk, NY, & Record Plant Studios, NYC, June-Oct., 1977. / Produced by Jack Douglas and Aerosmith / Mix producer Don Devito"

- The Ultimate Track Listing
According to blabbermouth.net, Aerosmith have finalized the track listing for their as-yet-untitled greatest hits collection, due out on June 25th through Columbia Records. It is as follows:
Disc One:
01. Mama Kin
02. Dream On
03. Same Old Song and Dance
04. Seasons of Wither
05. Walk This Way
06. Big Ten Inch Record
07. Sweet Emotion
08. Last Child
09. Back in the Saddle
10. Draw the Line (remix)
11. Dude (Looks Like a Lady)
12. Angel
13. Rag Doll
14. Janie's Got a Gun
15. Love in an Elevator
16. What It Takes
Disc Two:
01. The Other Side
02. Livin' on the Edge
03. Cryin'
04. Amazing
05. Deuces Are Wild
06. Crazy
07. Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees)
08. Pink (South Beach remix)
09. I Don't Want To Miss a Thing
10. Jaded
11. Just Push Play (radio remix)
12. Walk This Way
13. Girls of Summer (new)
14. Lay It Down (new)
--------------
There are some differences in this one, compared to the one reported by Chris earlier this month...
It appears "Seasons Of Wither" will be included, but not the new track "Feel So Good," as was reported May 7th. Also, there is no listing saying that Run DMC's "Walk This Way" is on this one, but as "Walk This Way" is listed twice, I'm sure one of them is the cover version.
--------------
Chris@AeroFANatic.com reports:
Well, the final tracklisting is out for the Aerosmith "Ultimate Hits". But what interests me are the non-standard "re-mixes" on the album. There are 3...
1. Pink (The South Beach Mix)
2. Just Push Play (Radio edit)
3. Draw The Line (remix)
YES, I said "Draw The Line" remix! Now, I am not sure exactly what form that
will take...but I do know the song is 20 seconds longer (from 3:23-3:42).
Maybe an extended jam of some sort? In any event, sounds interesting to say
the least.
- Clive Davis / Tyler to speak at R&R Convention
Industry Legend Clive Davis to Deliver Address; Aerosmith Frontman Steven
Tyler to Discuss His Career; Radio and Online Executives to Exchange Ideas at
R&R Convention 2002. "Clive Davis In The Morning"
Clive Davis, perhaps the recording industry's most celebrated executive, will
deliver an exclusive address at R&R Convention 2002 on Friday morning, June
14, at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.
As the recording industry's most innovative, outspoken and influential
executive, Clive Davis has had a profound effect on the music world, acting
as both champion and critic and as perhaps his industry's most visible and
respected spokesman. Davis' contributions are largely responsible for making
the music business the thriving industry it is as it enters the new
millennium.
Davis began his industry career in 1960, as an attorney for Columbia Records.
Six years later he was appointed VP/GM of the label, and in 1967 he rose to
President. Davis is highly regarded for his legendary signings, including
Janis Joplin, Santana, Boz Scaggs, Bruce Springsteen and Aerosmith, among
many others.
In 1974 Davis founded Arista Records with Columbia Pictures and embarked on a
string of artist signings equaled only by his record at the Columbia label.
Arista's roster under Davis included Barry Manilow, Whitney Houston, Patti
Smith, Kenny G and Monica. While at Arista, he entered into breakthrough
joint ventures with L.A. Reid and Babyface to form LaFace Records, and with
Sean "Puffy" Combs in the creation of Bad Boy Records.
Today, Davis -- who is an inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame -- is
head of J Records, which in August, 2000 was the largest new label ever in
music industry history. A joint venture with BMG, J Records opened its doors
with a prestigious team of executives and a lineup featuring Luther Vandross,
Alicia Keys, Busta Rhymes, O-Town, Angie Stone, Monica, Deborah Cox, LFO,
Next and more, plus a joint venture with Wyclef Jean's Yclef Records. Just
one year after its inception, J Records was able to boast four albums in the
top ten with Alicia Keys, Busta, O-Town, Luther Vandross and four platinum
albums in first year. Additionally, Alicia Keys was nominated for six Grammy
Awards.
One-On-One With Steven Tyler
Later that Friday, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler will appear in an intimate
setting to discuss his career and his perspectives on the industry in a
general session Friday afternoon.
Aerosmith have been entertaining fans for nearly 30 years, which places them
among the most enduring of rock bands. This summer they'll celebrate the
release of their Ultimate Greatest Hits Collection on Columbia Records, a
two-CD compilation that will also include three new songs.
Tyler joined his first rock band when he was still in his teens, and
Aerosmith released their first album on Columbia in January of 1973. The
single "Dream On" was the Song of the Year at two of the group's hometown
radio stations, WVBF & WBCN/Boston.
Over the years Aerosmith have released countless other rock anthems,
including "Walk This Way," "Sweet Emotion," "Dude (Looks Like a Lady),"
"Janie's Got a Gun" and "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing."
At the R&R session, which will be moderated by Rolling Stone magazine's David
Wild, Tyler will debut the studio tracks from Aerosmith's forthcoming album
and play the band's latest video. Their current single, "Girls of Summer," is
already on the radio, but it goes for adds officially on May 28.
Key Executive Panel Session Friday
Also on Friday, several key executives from the radio and online industries
will discuss the future of the electronic media in a general panel session.
Confirmed to appear are Clear Channel Radio CEO Randy Michaels, Emmis Radio
President Rick Cummings, and AOL Interactive President Jim de Castro.

- Aerosmith - To Be Or Not To Be...
Found at www.melodicrock.com:
'There have been several rumors circulating regarding the possible demise of
Aerosmith.
I thought I would try and get to the bottom of it and who better to ask, but
one of my most reliable contacts in Los Angeles, who came back with the
following details...
Apparently the very latest tension stems from Brad Whitford and Joey Kramer
not wanting to "sell out" and perform with rappers, Britney, NSync, Mary J
Blige and whoever else and just stick to rock and roll.
Steven Tyler is the one, along with some backing from Joe Perry, that keeps
the band in the "pop" scene.
It seems the recent MTV Icons show - which lets be honest, was a total
farce - was the icing on the cake, with one band member stating the absolute
obvious, claiming the band has nothing in common with the people they did
the Icons show with...and that he hated every minute of that.
It's no secret that there is a great deal of tension within the band.
But the one thing they all agree on is that they need each other to remain
successful and to continue to make money. This is the single common factor
that will hold the band together for a little longer yet. They know this and
are smart enough to deal with the other issues behind the scenes.'

- Videos at Dodge website
At http://www.dodgeaerosmith.com there are 4 Aerosmith video clips to be seen. One is Aerosmith talking about Jaded, one is an interview with Tom and Joe about life on the road, one is a live clip of Dream On filmed this last summer, and the last one is talking about the recording of the new album, I think.
- Joe's knee surgery
Debi reports:
"Okay, I found out what's what. Seems Joe's knee had been bothering him so he went for a scope, the scope showed it was trashed so he had knee replacement per the girl I spoke to at Icons. Take it as you will. I DO NOT represent myself as the authority, just passing on what I found out."

Aerosmith and B'z will be doing a joint live performance for the closing ceremony of the World Cup. Each band will play an 80 minute set and join together at the end. Details (not in English) at: www.being.co.jp/bz/news/index.html

Dodge Announces New Aerosmith Commercial and Sweepstakes Promotion, The 'Legends of Rock - Legends of Roll'
The Top Sweepstakes Prize Private Aerosmith Concert
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Dodge brand
announced today "Legends of Rock - Legends of Roll," a summer promotion that
puts Aerosmith and Dodge vehicles together on movie screens nation-wide and
awards 500 Aerosmith fans a private concert by the legendary band.
A 60-second Dodge/Aerosmith commercial -- also titled "Legends of Rock -
Legends of Roll" -- debuts May 24 (Memorial Day weekend) and runs through
June 28 in 2,400 movie theaters (18,000 screens) in the continental United
States. The spot concludes with a sweepstakes offer, excluding Florida, in
which one lucky winner and 500 of his or her closest friends will be treated
to an invitation-only Aerosmith concert. The sweepstakes ends July 19, with
the winner to be announced later in the year.
"Time magazine predicts this is going to be the biggest movie-going summer
ever, so the timing of 'Legends of Rock - Legends of Roll' is perfect to
showcase one of the greatest rock and roll bands together with one of the
greatest automotive brands ever," said Julie Roehm, Director, Dodge
Communications, DaimlerChrysler Corporation.
The Dodge/Aerosmith spot is a fast-paced montage divided between Aerosmith
concert footage and rolling footage of Dodge cars and trucks -- current and
future models, NASCAR race cars, concept vehicles, plus Dodge vehicles from
the 1960s and 1970s. The commercial is set to the title song from Aerosmith's
hit CD, "Just Push Play."
"Aerosmith personifies the bold, capable, street-smart attitude of Dodge
cars and trucks," said Roehm. "So we're very excited to have this great band
and our great brand together in front of 108 million movie-goers."
A voice-over at the end of the spot informs movie-goers that they can
enter the sweepstakes by going to the Dodge brand web page,
http://www.dodge.com . The site is also where the commercial can be viewed
during the promotion.
In addition to the top prize, Dodge and Aerosmith collectibles will be
given away weekly.

- Joey Kramer Drum Loops and Samples Press Release
AEROSMITH'S KRAMER GETS 'LOOPY!': (Press Release)
New York, NY- Audio
Icons Inc., a new manufacturer of digital software specializing in
digital loop and sample libraries is proud to announce their first
release, Drum Loops and Samples by Aerosmith's JOEY KRAMER.
Distributed by EastWest, the world's largest supplier of soundware
and the most critically acclaimed sound developer in the world, Audio
Icons intends to bring a new celebrity breed to this medium of
recording technology by introducing to the marketplace, product
primarily created by audio Legends.
With over 60% of all music created digitally today, Audio Icons
allows novice and professional end users to play and compose music
with Aerosmith's Joey Kramer's innovative Loop library, license free.
This brings to the consumer an idea that, up until now, has only been
realized primarily with session musicians. Never before has an artist
of this stature offered his talents to the work of others. With Audio
Icons, anyone who aspires to create their own music can now interact
with one of rock's most famous and influential drummers. The user can
load the selected drum samples into their computer or sampler
choosing tempos, grooves, fills, and cut and paste them to their
liking. They can then play other instruments live or MIDI on top of
the drums, record sections, overdubs and create until their heart's
content. The process is endless.
The sound quality of the recorded Loops is state of the art, matching
that of a finished Aerosmith record. Additionally, Audio Icons is
releasing the product in the Multi-Track Format, unlike 2-track audio
CDs, which are left and right stereo. This allows the user to control
all of the drums as they were originally recorded on their individual
tracks and incorporates Joey's drum work as if he was recording
specifically for your needs.
These features maximize the creative mixing and recording
possibilities. Drum Loops and Samples is available in the dual audio
CD package, as well as the 10-CD set, which includes the 2 audio CDs
and 8 muti-track CDs. Wav files can also be purchased separately and

Aerosmith House Fire Investigated
Tue May 14,12:57 PM ET
(AP) Investigators were at the scene all day Monday and planned to return
Tuesday.
Hamilton's home, which was undergoing extensive renovations, was destroyed by
a fire that began around 7 p.m. Saturday. Minutes later, a second fire was
reported at a barn about a mile away; about a dozen horses were rescued
before flames engulfed the building.
"My family and I are grateful for all the calls and support we have
received," Hamilton said in a statement. "We are relieved that our neighbors
are safe and that no firemen or police were hurt while trying to save our
home. We love the Cape and hope to return there soon."
West Barnstable Fire Chief John P. Jenkins said investigators have found
nothing to show that the two fires were connected or that they were
deliberately set, but he stressed that the investigation is in its early
stages.
On Sunday, investigators used accelerant-sniffing dogs to go through the
rubble at Hamilton's home and at the barn. At the time of the fire, no one
was in Hamilton's house, where an addition was being built.

- Terry's Candid Conversation with Jack Douglas
Jack is in L.A. and gave Terry the OK signal to post this. He and Rick are at the Dodger/NYM game tonight. A few disclaimers here. This was not an "interview" but rather a candid hour-long conversation. She asked Jack if she could convert the relative portions of their conversation into an online Q&A for fans to read and he liked the idea.
Some of you may be a bit surprised by his candid nature and honesty. A few of you may even be offended. He has not let the music industry change who he is and what he believes in and it is always a pleasure to talk to him. He did not say anything to me that he has not already said to Steven and the rest of the guys, the industry folks, etc. Jack used to remain fairly positive about virtually everything Aero when talking to her. But guess what? He's a fan just like the rest of us. Those guys are good friends of his and he cares about all five of them very much. I plan to do all I can to support him giving it a shot with the whole band writing if the opportunity presents itself.
After you read the Q&A, you can email Jack directly. Terry helped him setup a new email account for fans to write to him directly. He wants to hear from you! He values the opinion of fans a lot. Feel free to share your thoughts on his current and past work, ask questions about
the recording/producing process, etc. And be sure to post your thoughts on the Q&A too so she will know she didn't do all of this work for nothing!
The Q&A is 3 pages. There is a link at the bottom of each page to take you to the next along with one to Jack's email address. Here is the link to Page 1:

Below are the lyrics. They may not be 100% correct but...
--------------
GIRLS OF SUMMER
When winter hush turned summer pink
In half the time it takes to blink
But it all depends on what you think
About the girls of summer
When all you think of all day long
Is a pretty face inside a song
With a thought like that you can't go wrong
About the girls of summer
Do you know what everbody's talkin' bout
Some girls are all about it
Some girls they love to let it fly
Some girls can't live without it
Some girls are born to make you cry
Over and over again
My favorite thing that drives me wild
Is when a city girl walks a country mile
For the boys she loves; God bless the child
Inside the girls of summer
Do you know what everbody's talkin' bout
Some girls are all about it
Some girls they love to let it fly
Some girls can't live without it
Some girls are born to make you cry
Yeah over and over again
They get you climbin' the walls
They get you caught in their spell
They get you speakin' in tongues
Could this be heaven or hell?
To fall in love twice a day
Is such a sweet price to pay
The best things about life are free
The pussy willow up your tree
To the one who climbs will always be that girl
Some girls are all about it
Some girls they love to let it fly
Some girls no doubt about it
Some girls are born to make you cry
Some girls can't live without it
Some girls got 20 reasons why
over and over and over and over and over and over...
--------------
Personally I think the song is quite catchy, with a definite summer vibe to it. I can imagine this being alot played on the radio this summer, which I guess is the purpose of the song. However, it's not really that "good" IMHO, and where are the guitars??! Come on, guys, you can do better than this! We want at least a short guitar solo, is that too much to ask for? ;-)
- Jack Douglas want to work with Aerosmith...
Terry aka TED in CA after hearing "Girls Of Summer":
" Yes, this song belongs on a Tyler SOLO album if on anything at all! But here's the problem. SONY is convinced that all they need is Steven and Marti to crank out Aerosmith songs. They don't want band sounding songs. They want Steven/Marti songs for young pop radio. They
keep telling Steven how GREAT these songs are. He believes it. And God forbid, unless it totally flops like Fly Away did, we are ALL in
trouble..well those of us that are fans of the BAND AEROSMITH anyway. If you came on the scene when "that guy Aerosmith" had his first hit single (w/Dianne Warren) IDWTMAT you're in luck.
I really want to support Jack in trying to get Steven to go against the grain and grow his balls back if you'll pardon the expression. Since you talked about Joe this time Andy...Jack and Rick BOTH told me (yes, you heard right...Rick too!) that Joe has some incredible stuff he has come up with on his own. He played some of it for them the weekend of ICON. Made Jack REALLY want to lock the ENTIRE BAND in a room somewhere with him and only him..no writers, no pro-tools crap, etc. Brad also has some great stuff ready to offer. But then you
already read Brad's comments on mtv.com about the songwriting process these days.
I KNOW my questions to Jack were pretty negative re: Aero/Steven/SONY. But you know it's bad when even Jack who usually has remained fairly
pro-Aero (he is a fan as much as the rest of us) even when talking to me is starting to change his tune. He loves those guys. They are his friends. Friends don't let friends write crap songs LOL. "
- One Way Street Review
Found a review for "One Way Street: A Tribute to Aerosmith" (release date May 21, 2002 according to amazon.com):
Bob Kulick seems to have a found an easy way of living, making tribute
records to all bands that could use one, and more. If I’m right, I think this
is the second to Aerosmith, proving that maybe it’s time to close the shop.
However, there are more than a few great contributions here, starting with
the great Jack Russell doing “Eat The Rich”, with Dio’s best guitar player
since 1986, Doug Aldrich (eat the AldRICH?) joining in on strings.
You may wonder why Jack Russell is first out, like he was on the Van Halen
tribute, and the answer is simple - he rules whatever and whoever he sings!
Joe Lynn Turner does a good job on “Let The Music Do The Talking”, also
featuring a not so outstanding input from Al Pitrelli on guitar, just too
anonymous. When you chose to play a song like that, the guitar should be all
over the song, and the “once again and who knows for how long”-Savatage
player is not that. Tim (What’s my name?) Owens does a nice “Round And Round
”, and even Doug Pinnick has his moments on “One Way Street”.
The song selection is very second grade, simply because the best songs were
used the first time around. There are even covers of “What It Takes” and “
Living On The Edge”, and with “Eat The Rich”, “Angel” and “Crying”, this
record pays tribute to the nineties Aerosmith as well. I always liked
Aerosmith, but they were never highest on my list. Therefore, I enjoy this
record pretty much. If you’re a diehard ‘smith fan, I am not really sure if
this tribute will do the talikin’. See for yourself.

The new Eminem album can now apparently be downloaded from the net. Track 12 is the song that features a sample of "Dream On." Eminem feat Aerosmith
Sing For The Moment
Verse #1
These ideas are nightmares for white parents
Whose worst fear is a child with dyed hair and who likes earrings
Like whatever they say has no bearing
Its so scary in a house that allows no swearing
To see him walking around with his headphones blaring
Alone in his own zone, and he dont care
He's a problem child, what bothers him all comes out
When he talks about his fuckin' dad walkin out
Cos he hates him so bad that he blocks him out
But if he ever saw him again, he'd prolly knock him out
His thoughts are whacked, he's mad so he's talkin' back
Talkin black, brainwashed from rock and rap
He sags his pants, 2 rags and a stocking cap
His step-father hit him so he socked him back
And broke his nose, this house is a broken home
There's no control, he just lets his emotions go
Come on...
Chorus: (steven)
Sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tear
Sing with me,just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away
Verse #2
Entertainment is danger, intertwine it with gansters
In the land of the killers, a sinner's mind is a sanctum
Only you're unholy, only have one homey
Only this gun, lonely, cuz don't anyone know me
But everybody just feels like they can relate
I guess the world saw a motherfucker, they can be great
Or they can be great, or even worse, they can teach hate
Its like kids hang on every single statement we make
Like they worship us, plus all the stores ship us platinum
Now how the fuck did this metamorphasis happen?
From standin' on corners and porches just rappin'
To havin' a fortune, no more kissin' ass
But then these critics crucify you, journalists try to burn you
Fans turn on you, attorney's all gonna turn it to
To get their hands on every dime you have
They want you to lose your mind every time you mad
So they can try to make you out to look like a loose canon
You need to spew, dont hesitate to produce air-guns
Thats why these prosecutors wanna convict me
Swiftly just to get me offa these streets quickly
But all their kids been listen'n to me religiously
So i'm signing cds while police fingerprint me
They're for the judges daughter, but his grudge is against me
If i'm such a fuckin' menace, this shit doesnt make sense, Pete
It's all political, if my music is literal and i'm a criminal,
How the fuck can i raise a little girl?
I couldn't. i wouldn't be fit to
You're full of shit too, Guerrera, that was a fist that hit you!
Chorus
Verse #3
They say music can alter moods and talk to you
But can it load a gun for you and cock it too?
Well if it can, then the next time you assault a dude
Just tell the judge it was my fault, and i'll get sued
See what these kids do, is hear about us toting pistols
And they want to get one, cos they think the shit's cool
Not knowin' we're really just protectin' ourselves
We're entertainers, of course this shit's affecting our sales
You ignoramus. but music is reflection of self
We just explain it, and then we get our cheques in the mail
It's fucked up ain't it, how we can come from practically nothin'
To bein' able to have any fuckin' thing that we wanted
It's why we sing for these kids that don't have a thing
Except for a dream and a fucking rap magazine
Who post pinup pictures on their walls all day long
Idolise their favourite rappers and know all they songs
Or for anyone who's ever been through shit in they lives
So they sit and they cry at night, wishing they die
Till they throw on a rap record, and they sit and they vibe
We're nothing to you, but we're the fuckin' shit in their eyes
That's why we sieze the moment, and try to freeze it and own it
Squeeze it and hold it, 'cos we consider these minutes golden
And maybe they'll admit it when we're gone
Just let our spirits live on, through out lyrics that you hear in our songs
And we can
Chorus

- Tom Hamilton's house burnt down
Saturday, May 11th, Tom Hamilton's house caught fire and burnt to the ground. All that was left standing was 2 chimney stacks. Fortunately, no one was in the house at the time of the fire, so none of Hamilton's family got hurt.
There was also a second fire in the neighborhood, both fires are being investigated and fire officials were calling it suspicious, because of the close proximity.
Article by The Associated Press, May 12:
Home of Aerosmith Bassist Burned
WEST BARNSTABLE, Mass. (AP)--The Cape Cod home of Aerosmith bass guitarist Tom Hamilton was destroyed in a fire, authorities said.
No one was in the house when a fire started just before 7 p.m. Saturday, firefighter James Murphy said. An addition to Hamilton's home was under construction.
Minutes later, a second fire was reported at a barn about a mile away. Horses inside were rescued before flames engulfed the building, Murphy said. The barn is not owned by Hamilton.
Authorities were investigating both blazes, which caused an estimated $500,000 worth of damage.
One firefighter was treated for minor injuries.
The Boston-based band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year.
News Wire reported the following:
Officials on Cape Cod are investigating a massive fire that
destroyed the home of an Aerosmith band member. Bass player Tom Hamilton
owned the home that burst into flames last night around 7pm. Neighbors say
Hamilton was renovating the home and had recently added a second floor and
several rooms. One firefighter received minor injuries. Fire officials are
calling the blaze suspicious. A second fire was reported just minutes after
the house caught fire in a barn just a mile away. Hamilton's home was
destroyed in the blaze, and only a chimney remains standing.
This story also ran on various news programs on TV, including CNN. In one they also said Tom's name was "Ron Hamilton" (but leave it to the news people to get it right...)
The local news in Boston had the following reported yesterday...
Fire Rages Through Rocker’s Cape Cod Home
(1:20) A massive overnight fire in Cape Cod destroyed the home of a member of the rock band Aerosmith. The three-alarm fire broke out in bass guitarist Tom Hamilton’s house in West Barnstable. It’s one of two suspicious fires on the Cape Saturday night. NECN’s Tina Detelj reports.

Fire destroys home of Aerosmith bassist
by Jessica Heslam
Monday, May 13, 2002
A roaring fire destroyed the Cape Cod summer home of Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton, who yesterday stopped by the charred remains of the house he was in the midst of renovating.
``It was a blazing inferno. Only two chimneys are left standing. Tom's doing all right. As he said, `It hasn't sunk in yet. I'm just numb,' '' said one of Hamilton's West Barnstable neighbors who wanted to remain anonymous.
No one was in Hamilton's secluded home on Packet Landing Road when the 3-alarm blaze was spotted about 6:45 p.m. Neighbors said the quick-spreading fire was out-of-control and reduced the old-style Cape to ruins in about two hours.
Authorities are investigating whether there is any connection between that fire and a barn fire that began about 15 minutes later less than a mile from the rock star's home. Investigators yesterday were probing the cause of the fires, which caused a combined $500,000 in damages. Scores of firefighters snuffed out both fires by 11 p.m. One firefighter was treated for minor injuries.
State and local police used accelerant-sniffing canines to comb through the charred rubble at the two locations yesterday. State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan said, ``There is no preliminary cause for either fire at this time.''
As fire swept through the barn Saturday, civilians led out about a half-dozen horses.
Hamilton's neighbor told police about a suspicious-looking vehicle that pulled into her driveway about 10 minutes before the fire started at Hamilton's home.
``I really think it was set. Police are questioning someone,'' said the neighbor. ``It was a lovely house. He's a wonderful man and a wonderful neighbor.''
Hamilton, who lives in Newton with his wife and two children, had moved all the furniture out of his summer digs while building an addition twice the size of the original house, neighbors said.
Hamilton, who has owned the home for about 10 years, was described yesterday as a low-key, good neighbor.
``Everybody knows him. Everybody likes him,'' said another neighbor. ``Everyone thinks it was set.''
- Tyler at Berklee College of Music article
BOSTON -- Berklee College of Music students were calling lead singer Steven
Tyler of Aerosmith professor, at least for a day on Wednesday (05.08). The
well-known frontman for the Boston-based band said he loves hard rock music
and took the opportunity to look back at three decades of history with the
band. NewsCenter 5's Pam Cross reported that "Aerosmith 101" was a lesson
about creating music and living to share it.
Tyler released his first album before most of the Berklee students were
born, but Tyler said his spirit remains young. "Don't forget it's a dream. I
pretended I was someone else until that someone became me, and that's the
beauty of it all," said Tyler. "I'm 54, the band is no spring chicken, we
been out forever. You never know when it's going to be over, but I have this
passion and I don't care." In a frank conversation with Berklee professor
and musician Livingston Taylor, Tyler talked about forming the band in
Boston in 1970, working for peanuts, the musicians' years of serious drug
addiction and their eventual road to sobriety. He also discussed the nuts
and bolts of keeping a band together three decades, all the while creating
music. Aerosmith, which has six hit albums, is now in the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame. But Tyler still looks to the future, he said. The group recently
recorded a song for the "Spider-man" movie soundtrack. "I threw in my Tyler
stuff, 'Look out, here come the "Spider man,'" he said. After talking with
students, Tyler then moved to the piano to enchant a new generation of
musicians and music lovers, playing some of the band's better known songs.

- News at 11, Boston - Tyler at Berklee
Steven was on the news at 11 on channel 4 in Boston yesterday. During the Amazing Race, they showed him and said something about him teaching and to watch the news at 11.
On the news, they showed Steven performing Dream On at the piano, impromptu. He played for the Berkeley School of Music yesterday. He was there as a guest, speaking to stundents about the music industry. He spoke about drugs, saying "it will kill your spirituality" and the music that flows through you or something like that. They also showed a clip of him posing for photos with some of the students and then he touched this girl's face and told her "someday that will be you." Then they said he's one of the good guys and that he recently turned down an invitation to go up to the International Space Station at the urging of his wife and kids.
- Steven Tyler in ALLURE Magazine
There's a Q&A section for celebrities in Allure Magazine (Christina Aguilera on the cover). There's a small picture of Tyler (not too great) and Steven was asked a question...
Question: "Which celebrity would you like to see naked?"
Steven's answer: "Sela Ward"
Sela Ward is the woman who played Lily Sammler (the mother) in the TV series "Once & Again" on ABC.
- Hayseed Dixie cover Aerosmith
There is a band called Hayseed Dixie (used to be AC Dixie, as a tribute to AC/DC) from Virginia, with a new CD out called "A Hillbilly Tribute to Mountain Love."
On the album they do covers of a bunch of rock songs, dixie-style. They cover Aerosmith's "Walk This Way", aswell as songs by Joan Jett, Ted Nugent and many others. One of the local radio stations played clips of most of the songs this morning, and "Walk This Way" is apparently quite interesting!
Don't know where you can find this CD yet, but it may be worth looking up for some of you hardcore Aerosmith fans..?

How is your relationship with Steven Tyler?
A-J McLean [Backstreet Boys]:
Steven and I have been really good friends for about four years now. He's been clean and sober for God knows how long and I'm sober now and we have a lot in common. And I used to have a major crush on his daughter, but now I'm engaged, but I still have a crush on her.
What is your favorite Aerosmith song?
Pink:
Sings: Pink is my favorite color… Laughter. That's of course my favorite.
How have you stayed cutting edge in the music scene for 30 years?
Steven Tyler:
I think, you know, for myself, part of it is you have this dream but you really never know how it's going to work out but you pretend, pretend, and pretend. Even if you pretend to be somebody else and you wait for that somebody else to become you. Sometimes it takes a long time and in this band's case it's been so up and down, up and down, nip and tuck - I mean after 30 years I figured something had to happen.
- Icons on MTV Germany
MTV Germany will air the show in a 2 hour version - not 1.5 as listed for MTV Europe. This is accurate:

02.06.02 @ 00.00-02.00
08.06.02 @ 22.30-00.30
09.06.02 @ 10.00-12.00
Also they apparently made a nice Aero-related page, just go to http://www.mtv.de to find it.
- Platinum Hits
Seen at a local Sam Goody store, in the singles section, was an Aerosmith CD titled Platinum Hits. It had the IDWTMAT single cover in the
center. The track listing is:
I Don't Want To Miss A Thing

Taste of India (Rock Remix)
It seems to be just a "re-release" of the single. I think it's just a Sony thing reissuing singles from bands.
- Camden date - No More No More
Aparently ticketmaster.com has now removed the listing of the Aerosmith show mentioned here yesterday.. hmm..?
- Info on "The Ultimate Hits" from "official sources"
Nothing we already knew, but seeing something from the record company confirms it, I guess...
A man who works at a corporate record store (transworld) got the info the other day that it's going to be a 2-cd thing and that there's is going to be 3 new songs. Apparently he found this info among the mailings they get from the various companies.

STICKING WITH TRADITION: The national anthem will have a more a
conservative and traditional approach this year. West Point cadets will sing
the anthem and present the American flag during pre-race ceremonies.
Speedway president Tony George was forced to apologize last year when
Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler began his performance
with a harmonica solo and ended by singing "the home of the Indianapolis
500" instead of "home of the brave."
On a side-note, someone who was there at the time claims that the altered lyrics (Home of the Indy 500) were actually on the teleprompter Steven had at his feet. If that's true, it wasn't a flight of his fancy to change them, they were fed to him like that. I hate it when people (particularly the Speedway people in this case) don't take responsibility for what they do.

There's a little Aerosmith thing to be seen in the new Jerry Maguire special edition on DVD. Michael brought to my attention that there's a little Aerosmith tid-bit to be seen while watching it with commentary.
Apparently during the first sex scene of the movie, with Tom and Kelly Preston, Cameron played Aerosmith on the set to add fuel to the scene and keep the 'train rollin'' if ya know what I mean. Thought that was interesting... :)

- Blender Magazine Article
Below is the article, "33 Things You Should Know About Aerosmith," from the June/July issue of Blender Magazine (the Osbournes on the cover), mentioned here yesterday!
33 Things You Should Know About Aerosmith
By any reckoning, they should be dead: drugs, car explosions, drugs, intraband fights, guitar-shaped swimming pools, drugs, drugs, drugs. "If you're in a band like Aerosmith," explains Steven Tyler, "you have to play the game...."
1) Aerosmith Formed Over French Fries.
After playing a show in New Hampshire on July 4, 1966, with the Strangeurs - one of his many pre-Aerosmith bands - Steven Tyler grabbed a bite to eat. Wowed by the excellent french fries, he complimented the moody, long-haired chef. "That was Joe [Perry]," Tyler says. "It turned out he was mad because we always threw food, and he had to clean up after us." Four years later, Tyler and Perry formed Aerosmith.
2) Tyler Took A Big Chance At The High-School Dance.
"With a missy who was ready to play? Yeah. They had record hops in the lunchroom of our high school on Friday afternoons. I thought, 'What if we had a band?' So I got a band together. Then I met a cheerleader, was a real young bleeder...So, the high-school dance? You betcha. We played there, and all the girls who never looked at me saw me up there playing 'Wooly Bully' and wanted to sharpen my pencil."
3) Tyler Was A Teenage Trekkie.
"When I was in high school, I'd smoke a joint in my closet in Yonkers, New York, and watch Star Trek. I knew Sulu. When Uhura said 'Open all hailing frequencies', I picked up my phone. After all, my darling, we lived on the dark side of the moon for so many years."
4) Aerosmith Have Done Lots And Lots Of Drugs.
Tyler and Perry weren't known as the Toxic Twins for nothing. "Incredible Excess," nods Tyler. How much drug use? "A swimming pool filled to the top with blow would be about right," he says.
5) False Aerosmith Rumor Number 1:
Tyler and drummer Joey Kramer are just good friends, despite the fact, as Kramer explains in the Aerosmith autobiography Walk This Way, "Someone put out a rumor at the beginning of the band that we were gay." "Me and Joey Kramer? The drummer?" asks a wide-eyed Tyler. "That's the damnedest fucking thing, man!"
6) Regrets? They've Had, Well, One.
"I had fun with girls," says Tyler, "but I'm also bummed - because when you're high, you're not in the clubs looking for puss. I spent a lot of my time in the bathroom with Rod Stewart, snorting blow." Says Perry, grinning: "There's that gay thing again, Steven. You've got to watch what you say."
7) You Can't Fit Much On Steven Tyler's Arms.
The words MA KIN are tattooed on his left arm, a 1971 testament to his faith in the song "Mama Kin." Why not the full title? "I couldn't fit it on," shrugs Tyler. Adds Perry, "He was young and skinny, so that's all the room there was."
8) Joe Perry Has A Guitar-Shaped Swimming Pool.
"The neck isn't on it, but it looks like a guitar," he says. "Of course, the house would be the amplifier."
9) Perry Also Has His Own Brand Of Hot Sauce.
Joe Perry's Rock Your World Boneyard brew is available online at ashleyfood.com. Do the profits go to charity, as with Paul Newman's salad dressing? "Yeah, the Joe-Perry-put-a-neck-on-my-guitar-pool charity.," cracks Tyler.
10) Dealing With Tyler, Joey Kramer Says, Gave Him A Nervous Eye Twitch.
"He likes to say that, but it goes a bit deeper than that," Tyler protests. Kramer did vacuum up miles of coke with the rest of them in the band's heydey. "He's lucky it isn't both eyes," says Perry.
11) Tyler And Perry Argued About Everything.
"We still do!" Tyler says. "What else are you going to do? Count your money?"
12) Perry's Girlfriend Bit Him On The Face In 1974.
"You can get into some amazing fights if you set your mind to it," he muses. "I've still got the scar. It's around here somewhere."
13) False Aerosmith Rumor Number 2:
Perry did not do so much heroin before his wedding (to face-biter Elissa Jerret on August 5, 1975) that he almost got sick on the cake. Oh, he did the heroin - he just didn't feel especially ill. "I was a very fastidious junkie," he notes.
14) Perry Smiled Only Once In The 1970's.
"I remember it too," says Tyler. referring to Perry's twenty-sixth birthday in 1976, when his hero, Jeff Beck, joined Aerosmith onstage. "That was amazing," Perry says. "I had reason to smile. I don't know if I did or not."
15) Tyler Was Once A 16-year-Old Girl's "Legal Guardian."
In 1975, Tyler's girlfriend was - according to various accounts - 14, 15 or 16. He maintains she was 16 when he approached her parents about being her legal guardian, so she could tour with him. "She was doing things, I was dreaming about," he recalls. "She sure didn't act 16."
16) Aerosmith Nearly Chartered The Lynyrd Skynyrd Death Plane.
After hearing reports that the pilots had sometimes smoked marijuana, and drunk Jack Daniels, Aerosmith decided not to hire a Convair plane to ferry them around on their 1977 tour. Three months later, a Convair crash killed half of Lynyrd Skynyrd. "We were that close from it being us, and we've always been that way," says Tyler.
17) The Whole Band Was Drunk During The Filming Of The 1978 Turkey Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Director Michael Schultz asked, "Who are these drunks on my fucking set?" "It was fun," recalls Perry, "but yeah, we were pretty drunk most of the time."
18) False Rumor Number 3:
Tyler was never so drug-addled during the recording of 1977's Draw The Line that he saw triple, despite rumors that he did. "Can someone see triple?" Tyler wonders. "I'd be so stoned on Valium and muscle relaxers that my eyes would cross, and I couldn't uncross them. I even remember driving like that."
19) Perry Once Racked Up $80,000 In Room-Service Charges.
In 1979, after the Draw The Line tour, Perry was presented with the colossal bill - for hotel "incidentals." How does one amass that big a tab? "Easy," he says.
20) Tyler Has A Rather Unusual Way Of Giving Gifts To Women.
On a 1979 Caribbean vacation in St. Martin with his first wife, Cyrinda Foxe-Tyler, the singer presented her with a diamond-and-emerald bracelet by wearing it around his penis and asking her to "dive for it, no hands." "A double surprise for her," he says.
21) Perry And Tyler Really Like Knieves.
To illustrate, Tyler pulls out a switch-blade and pops it open. "Isn't that nice?" Says Perry reaching into his pocket, "I love a well-made piece of machinery. This is from a guy Steven and I know in Maui. It's called an 'assisted-flick' -just touch it and it opens," Indeed, with the lightest touch the blade springs into place. "That's a $1200 knife," Tyler notes. "I use it to open my fan mail."
22) Perry And Tyler Really Like Guns Too.
"I don't know how many guns I have," Perry says. "Not too many, probably around 50." That seems like quite a few. "Not relatively speaking," he reasons, "when you start meeting guys who are into it. We know guys who have hundreds."
23) The Rest Of Aerosmith Prefer Gentler Pursuits.
Perhaps that's why they call themselves the "L.I.3": Less Interesting 3. Bassist Tom Hamilton is quite the tennis player, guitarist Brad Whitford has his own go-kart track and Joey Kramer collects cars. "He buys a new car every two months or so," says Perry.
24) Kramer Once Exploded.
The drummer was gassing up his Ferrari near Boston in 1998 when it went up in flames, badly burning his arms. "He left the ignition on," Tyler explains.
25) Tyler Can Fit Into His Daughter's Jeans.
Which daughter? Liv. "And my 13-year-old Chelsea - about a month ago, I could wear her pants, but I've come off the road and gained 6 pounds."
26) False Aerosmith Rumor Number 4:
They never played just one song ("Train Kept a-Rollin,'" legend has it) and then left the stage, believing they'd performed a whole show. "Oh, no," says Tyler. "That's what blithering idiots do. We were just drug addicts."
27) Without Motley Crue, There Would Be No "Dude Looks Like A Lady)."
Tommy Lee and friends inspired Tyler to write his anthem to big-haired girly-men. "They got into my limousine after a show," Tyler explains. "Every other word was dude. They were way ahead of their time. Dude! It was hilarious to me."
28) False Aerosmith Rumor Number 5:
Aerosmith didn't stop Permanent Vacation tourmates Guns N' Roses from drinking while on the road in 1988. "We'd just gotten sober," explains Tyler, "so I told those guys, 'This is my dressing room, and if you whip out the coke, I'm going to have to leave.' That was it. Then it was printed that we banned them from drinking backstage. Never."
29) Over 29 Whirlwind Years, Aerosmith Have Scored Just One Number 1 Single.
In 1998, the Diane Warren - penned power ballad "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing," from the Armageddon soundtrack, provided the band with its sole number 1 hit. "Is it a soppy ballad that I hate?" Tyler asks. "No, I like the song. My daughter was in the movie, and it was a great fucking movie."
30) Aerosmith Helped Invent Rap-Rock.
"We were a big piece of it," says Tyler of the band's 1986 collaboration with Run-DMC on "Walk This Way." "We owe a lot to Rick Rubin for turning them on to us, because they were about as much into Aerosmith as we were into rap back then."
31) The Band Just Says No To Plastic Surgery.
"You start getting weird-looking," says Tyler. "I color my hair, and I've got a couple of capped teeth, but that's the extent of it."
32) Aerosmith Are Not Afraid To "Play The Game."
In addition to recording a song for the new Spider-Man movie and preparing new material for a greatest-hits package, the band recently was the subject of an mtvICON special, in which Kid Rock, Pink and Nelly covered Aerosmith standards. "I think MTV offered it to U2 but they were busy," Tyler quips. "If you're in a band like Aerosmith and you're trying to stay relevant, you have to play the game."
33) Aerosmith Are Indestructable.
Despite the best efforts of drug dealers and "various bastards," Tyler says, Aerosmith have somehow avoided bankruptcy and/or death. "You know you meet all kinds," he says. "If Aerosmith is a comet ripping the sky, there's a tail of carrion and roadkill. But we're still here, so what does that say?"

- Aerosmith on the verge of splitting?!
In an article at MSNBC it is reported that the guys in Aerosmith are not getting along too well these days...
Aerosmith ‘brothers’ ready to split?
With Ashley Pearson
MSNBC
May 6 — Are the members of Aerosmith planning to walk their own way? A source close to the long-lived group says that in-fighting among the members has gotten so bad that the band is on the verge of splitting.
“THEY WOULD BE fighting — except that they’re barely speaking to each other,” says a well-placed source. The insider says much of the tension can be traced back to lead singer Steven Tyler. “His ego is out of control,” says the insider.
A spokesman for the group laughs off the talk, pointing out that the group has a greatest hits album coming out in June and is going on tour in August. “They’re like brothers,” he said. “They’ve been together for 30 years.”
Is there tension among the members, the Scoop asked. “As I said, they’re like brothers,” says the spokesman. “Let’s just say there’s no talk of splitting.”

- Joey Kramer selling his house!
There is a Joey Kramer mention in Wall Street Journal. What the article says is basically that he's selling his house in Marshfield Hills, Ma for 3.2 million.
April and Joey are having a smaller house built because their two children are grown. Actually the part about selling it because the two children are grown is quite amusing as the house is 7352 square feet with double foyer, wet bar, mahogany paneled library, seven fire places and a granite master bath with a bidet. How much room did these two children need??? ;-)
If anyone is interested in purchasing the house, Gaik Petersen Bell of Home Center Real Estate in Hingham Ma, is the listing agent.
Here's a link for the ad and picture on Joey's house listing:

Joe Perry's Rock Your World Boneyard Brew Hot Sauce
Back in March this year Joe Perry announced that he would be coming out with his own brand of hot sauce called "Joe Perry's Rock your World Boneyard Brew."
The sauce, at the cost of $7.99, could be ordered online at www.joeperrysrockyourworld.com but would not ship until May 1, 2002.
May is here and the first orders for Joe Perry's Rock Your World Boneyard Brew Hot Sauce has been sent out. I've noticed some people thought they were buying signed bottles, and being dissapointed when the bottles they recieved weren't signed...
Now, the only ones who said anything about signed and numbered sauce were AF1, and if you read what AF1 said, theyt didn't actually say that what could be ordered would be signed...
Joe told AF1, “The Boneyard Brew is in the middle to on the mild side. But there will be a really hot one coming out very soon as well. The first batch will be signed and numbered and they’ll be a special edition. It’ll come in a box and it’ll be really cool. Then right along side it we’ll be selling the regular bottles as well.”
As you notice if you read it carefully, what he is talking about is the "really hot one coming out very soon as well", not the first "middle to on the mild side", which could be ordered.
Also, it was AF1 not the Ashley Foods who went out with this info. Below is a response a costumer got back from Ashley Foods, when emailed about the signed and numbered bottles:
There will be a signed and numbered edition with a plastic display case and
an extra bottle to eat, however it will cost $100.00 per set. It should be
up for sale in about a month.

David Ashley

Thing on Liv from the Sunday Mirror
Sunday Mirror (http://www.sundaymirror.co.uk)
STAR STYLE SCHOOL: FASHION LESSONS WITH... LIV TYLER
DO go macho. Liv's curves look fab in masculine clothes - and she's added just a touch of feminine sauciness with lace panels on her trousers. We'll assume you've got flesh-coloured knicks on young lady.
DON'T raid the dressing-up box. Ms Tyler looks like she's fallen on hard times and has taken to waitressing to earn some cash.
DO old-fashioned glamour. Liv works that 50s starlet style with her classy coiffeur and demure demeanour...
until she gets to the free bar that is.
DON'T forget your shape. Stella's face says it all. `High-waisted trews on an hour-glass figure? Liv - you look like my grandad'.
DO retro chic. But careful, with a printed dress there's a fine line between looking cool and looking like Pat Butcher in her negligee.
DO be clever with colour. Liv combines bold matador-style trousers with a flamenco-style top and was last seen running away from Billy the bull in Hollywood Hills.
DO accessorise. OK, Liv isn't at her most exciting here, but stylish extras speak volumes. With her scarf and studded bag Liv's going for the schoolgirl look - minus the spots, puppy fat, glasses, braces and dodgy plaits, course.
DON'T have bad taste in T-shirts. Yes, we know it's Chloe and therefore very trendy. But we still think it looks like Liv's being groped by a thin man wearing marigolds.

- Young Lust goes Gold in the UK!
"Young Lust: The Aerosmith Anthology" has been certified Gold in the UK, for sales of over 100,000.
Ironically it seems to have sold as many copies in the UK as in the US! Guess that shows what advertising can do, because it was promoted a bit more over in the UK. It was certified gold just over two weeks after it came out, so it might be on its way to Platinum for 300,000. However they do judge it on copies shipped not sold, so it probably shipped 100,000 for the Xmas shopping...
- Tyler mention on Letterman
Last night on David Letterman, one of the stars of the movie Spiderman, Kirsten Dunst, was a guest. Her birthday was on Monday, and Letterman commented that she got a birthday greeting from Steven Tyler. She said it was a message left on her answering machine, and they played it!
Steven said he was calling to wish her a happy birthday. I don't know the exact words, but they rhymed, so then he said "oh, I even
made that rhyme, pretty cool" or something like that. Needless to say, she was tickled to death that he called her to wish her a happy birthday.
- Little tidbit in the Globe
In a little magazine with gossip about celebrities and all, there are a few pictures. One of Jennifer Aniston and Liv Tyler at the MTV tribute for Aerosmith, and then just one other picture of Liv Tyler in a black dress. No picture of Steven or any of the band mates.
Titled: GOOD SPORT
If you've ever wondered what LIV TYLER and her rocker dad STEVEN do for fun,
listen to this: Liv often invites Daddy to her house and uses him as a
guinea pig to try out various cosmetic treatments she's concocted! The
Aerosmith frontman sits patiently while daughter dearest mixes fruits and
veggies in a blender and applies the stuff to his face. The Stealing Beauty
star says Pop is such a good sport that he even lets her test out different
shades of lipstick and eye shadow on him.
- Tiny Steven Mention
On Comedy Central Presents there was a comedian talking about "pussy." He said "if Steven Tyler can say "mmmmmm pussy" I can
say it." He's probaly saying it right now.
- The Mirror
There was Steven Tyler mention in the the Mirror newspaper yesterday. The columnist 3am girls had a pic of Tyler posing funnily at the Spiderman premiere. The idiotic comment read:
"Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler - now better know as Liv Tylers dad - makes a fool of himself by posing like a man a quarter of his age."
- Billboard Charts
Aerosmith's "Greatest Hits", going into its 383rd week on the Billboard Pop Catalogue Charts, stays at number 3 this week!

- Tyler on stage for "Guns N' Roses reunion performance"!!
On April 29th, 2002 a "Randy Castillo Memorial Benefit Concert" was held at the Key Club in Hollywood, California.
The concert served as a celebration of the life of drummer Castillo, who passed away from cancer on March 26. Castillo was a rock veteran who had played with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne and Motley Crue and was well liked and respected in the hard rock community. The benefit was to raise money for his family in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Many artists performed at this benefit show, including a good bunch of former Guns N' Roses members: Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum (and Izzy Stradlin and/or Gilby Clarke?)!
After Nickelbag and a bunch of opening bands, the ex-Guns N' Roses' members and Buckcherry's vocalist Joshua Todd took the stage around midnight, aptly calling themselves "Buck n' Guns". Slash wasn't the only guitarist on stage. Not sure who else, however, as different reports state different things. I've seen both Izzy Stradlin and Gilby Clarke mentioned, aswell as Buckcherry's Keith Nelson...
They opened with "It's So Easy", closely followed by the Sex Pistols' punk anthem "God Save the Queen." After that Buckcherry's "Lit Up" was played, before going into a cover of Rose Tattoo's "Nice Boys". Next they brought up Sen Dog from Cypress Hill. He and Josh led the band in a cool rendition of "Paradise City." Then came the big surprise of the evening... Up on stage comes Steven Tyler! Tyler and the rest of the 'real' GN'R then played Aerosmith's "Mama Kin"!
Tyler finished his appearance by holding his arms up, looking to the sky, and woefully screamed, 'Raaaaannndyyyyyyy!'
The people who went there had nothing but positive things to say!
Setlist for the Buck N' Guns performance:
- "It's So Easy" (Guns N' Roses)
- "God Save the Queen" (Sex Pistols)
- "Lit Up" (Buckcherry)
- "Nice Boys" (Rose Tattoo)
- "Paradise City" (Guns N' Roses) (w/ Sen Dog)
- "Mama Kin" (Aerosmith) (w/ Steven Tyler)
Among the others who attended and performed at Randy Castillo's Memorial Benefit Concert were Kenny Aronoff, Simon Fowler, Ball, Greg Bissonette, Steve Lukather, Phil Sousann, Simon Phillips, Ritchie Kotzen and guitar legend Ronnie Montrose!
The following was pulled from an AOL board...
"Steven Tyler got on stage tonight at two different functions. first at the
Randy Castillo Memorial Benefit. He performed with three of the G & R guys
and two of the Buckcherry guys (called Buck n Guns ). It was awesome that he
came to support the memorial.
Then he went over to The Viper Room and went on stage with Metal Shop and
sang Walk this way. Ralph was freaking out... The crowd went bonkers at both
venues.... I bet no Aerosmith fans even caught it. "

Former Guns N' Roses Members Reunite At Randy Castillo Benefit
Wed May 1, 6:57 AM ET
(5/1/02, 7 a.m. ET) -- Hollywood rock 'n' rollers got a special treat
Tuesday night (April 29) during the Randy Castillo benefit show at
the Key Club when the '90s-era Guns N' Roses lineup, sans Axl Rose,
reunited onstage with guest vocalists including Buckcherry singer
Josh Todd, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, and Cypress
Hill's Sen Dog.
The band--consisting of ex-Guns guitarist Slash and Gilby Clarke,
bassist Duff McKagen, and drummer Matt Sorum, plus Buckcherry
guitarist Keith Nelson--played a short but blistering set that
included Guns classics and some choice cover tunes under the name
Buck N' Roses (and/or Cherry Roses depending on who you asked).
The set opened with GN'R's "It's So Easy," followed by the Sex
Pistols anthem "God Save The Queen," Rose Tattoo's "Nice Boys Don't
Play Rock 'N' Roll" (a GN'R live staple), and Buckcherry's hit "Lit
Up."
Sen Dog, who also fronts a metal band called SX-10 on the side,
joined in for a roaring version of Guns' smash "Paradise City,"
rapping the second verse and bouncing around the stage with glee.
For the final number, the band introduced Tyler, who lead them
through a spirited rendition of Aerosmith's "Mama Kin," another Guns
live staple. Tyler hugged the former Gunners as they left the stage
with smiles.
This was probably as close to a full-scale Guns N' Roses reunion as
can be expected, though the former bandmates have shared stages
together in recent times in various configurations.
Duff's band Loaded jammed with Slash on "It's So Easy" a couple
months back at its Los Angeles House of Blues show, and Gilby
Clarke's weekly jams at the Cat Club have attracted the likes of
Slash, Duff, and even reclusive frontman Axl Rose (though not at the
same time). Duff also played bass on former Guns guitarist Izzy
Stradlin's last three solo albums and has rounded up Slash to join in
for the next one.
Also on the bill at the Castillo benefit was Nicklebag, featuring
Rolling Stones backing vocalist Bernard Fowler and fill-in guitarist
Ritchie Kotzen, guitar legend Ronnie Montrose, comedians Andy Dick
and Charles Fleisher, and several all-star jam bands. Slap featured
Toto guitarist Steve Lukather, former Ozzy bassist Phil Sousann, and
drum legends Kenny Aronoff and Simon Phillips, while the night ended
with an all star drum-off that featured just about every skinsman in
town.
The concert was a benefit show and served as a celebration of the
life of drummer Castillo, who passed away from cancer on March 26.
Castillo was a rock veteran who played with the likes of Ozzy
Osbourne and Motley Crue and was well liked and respected in the hard
rock community. The benefit was to raise money for his family in
Albuquerque, New Mexico and the efforts continue at

AEROSMITH Frontman Makes Surprise Appearance At RANDY CASTILLO Tribute Gig -
May 1, 2002
AEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler made a surprise appearance at a sold-out
tribute to the late MOTLEY CRUE/OZZY OSBOURNE drummer Randy Castillo, which
was held at the Key Club in Hollywood, California on Monday, April 29th.
Tyler reportedly appeared for a rendition of the AEROSMITH classic "Mama Kin"
at the conclusion of a set by a band that was jokingly referred to by
organizers as BUCKS N' ROSES, because it featured former GUNS N' ROSES
members Slash (guitar), Duff McKagan (bass), and Matt Sorum (drums), along
with BUCKCHERRY singer Josh Todd and guitarist Keith Nelson. According to a
report posted at KNAC.com, “[the band] spun the crowd into a frenzy, opening
with GNR's 'It's So Easy' then the SEX PISTOLS 'God Save The Queen', as well
as ROSE TATTOO/GNR's 'Nice Boys' and BUCKCHERRY's 'Lit Up'. The band then
tore into GNR's 'Paradise City', in which CYPRESS HILL's Sen Dog jumped up on
stage to provide additional vocals. And then it came… AEROSMITH's Steven
Tyler pounced onstage and blew out the place with an amazing rendition of the
AEROSMITH classic, 'Mama Kin'. The floors were thumping and the place went
wild! Tyler finished his appearance by holding his arms up and looking to the
sky, and woefully screamed, 'Raaaaannndyyyyyyyyyyy!' “
According to the organizers, some of the funds raised at the tribute event
will be donated to the NARAS MusiCares program, while the remainder will go
to establish a scholarship fund in Castillo's hometown of Albuquerque, New
Mexico
