It will feature contemporary artists duet-ing with the
original recordings of Marley's vocals to make new versions of the songs.
Stephen Marley is producing this tribute to his father . . . Re-mixing the
new vocals with his father's original ones. Stephen [who is also a member
of the Marley-offspring band the Melody Makers] is not the only Marley child
working on the album. Damian Marley was the one that set up in Joe Perry's
studio [the Boneyard] in mid-January of 1999 to see Steven Tyler lay down
some vocals to be mixed with Bob Marley's vocals [later on] for the CD.
Still no word yet on an exact release date or which song the toxic twins have done.
Love and Rockets
Suz Phillips Reports that Love and Rockets' song "Delicious Ocean", from their current CD "Lift", totally rips off the bass line to Sweet Emotion. She says that the liner notes of the CD has no credit given to Aerosmith.

Aerosmith Bails Out Of
Woodstock '99
June 21, 1999, 10:05 am PT
Although the
official reason
for Aerosmith’s
balking on
Woodstock ’99
has been cited
as "mutual
production
problems and scheduling conflicts," a
source close to the event says that
the real reason is the band’s new
management company, HK
Management, does "not work and
play well with others."
Nothing more specific was available
at press time, but it was quite
apparent that Metropolitan
Entertainment, the promotions
company handling the event, and HK
Management could not see eye to
eye on a few issues surrounding the
band’s performance.
A spokesperson for Woodstock ’99
concurred with the source. "There
were absolutely no production
problems," says the source. "Every
band was being treated like a
favored nation." However, HK
Management responds, "We stand by
the press release. The reasons
stated were true."
Woodstock organizers are expected
to announce several additions to the
Woodstock ’99 lineup later this week.

UPDATE: Aerosmith Off Woodstock Lineup, More Acts To Be Added Soon
Looks like Aerosmith won't be going back to the
Woodstock music festival after all.
The band, which was one of the few acts returning
for Woodstock '99 after also playing at Woodstock '94, has backed out of the three-day
event, citing "mutual production problems and scheduling conflicts."
However, the Woodstock camp denies that it caused
any production problems for the band and noted that the festival managed to handle the
production concerns of the more than 40 acts on the bill.
Aerosmith changed its management company earlier
this year, and some in the industry believe that the change may have also played a role in the
band's disappearance from the Woodstock bill.
Aerosmith is currently on tour in Europe and was
expected to wrap its overseas dates after a
July 17 with a show in Lisbon, Portugal, less than
a week before the group was to play the
opening date of Woodstock '99 on July 23.
In a statement announcing its decision not to play
the upcoming Woodstock concert, Aerosmith
wrote that it "[regretted] the inconvenience and
[sent] out a heartfelt apology to fans who had
purchased tickets to see them perform as part of
the weekend festival."

Aerosmith Drops Woodstock '99
Aerosmith has become the latest casualty of Woodstock '99. Steven Tyler and the rest of the boys from Boston have announced that they will not play this summer's festival.
A statement from the band's publicist cites "mutual production problems and scheduling conflicts" as the reason for the band's departure. "The band — Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer — regret this inconvenience and send out a heartfelt apology to fans who had purchased tickets to see them perform as part of the weekend festival." Aerosmith was one of only six bands who played Woodstock '94 and was slated to play the festival again.
Aerosmith is not, however, the first band to announce its departure from Woodstock before the music begins. Jeff Beck, who was a late scratch from the original Woodstock in 1969, pulled out following schedule conflicts, and Santana was unable to reach an agreement with Woodstock promoters concerning the role he would play.
Woodstock '99 is slated for July 23-25 in Rome, N.Y.
Confirmed Woodstock lineup
Brian Setzer Orchestra, Bush, the Chemical Brothers, George Clinton & the P-Funk All Stars, Collective Soul, Counting Crows, Creed, Sheryl Crow, DMX, Everclear, Everlast, Fatboy Slim, Foo Fighters, Godsmack, Guster, Mickey Hart's Planet Drum, Ice Cube, Jamiroquai, Wyclef Jean & the Refugee Allstars, Jewel, Kid Rock, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Lit, Live, Los Lobos, Dave Matthews Band, Metallica, moe., Alanis Morissette, Willie Nelson, Mike Ness, the Offspring, Our Lady Peace, Rage Against the Machine, Sugar Ray, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rusted Root, and the Tragically Hip.

Here's the information from the Official Woodstock Website:

99. The band -- Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joey
Kramer -- regret this inconvenience and send out a heartfelt apology to fans
who had purchased tickets to see them perform as part of the weekend

Article from Boston Herald's Inside Track yesterday
This was written yesterday before it was confirmed that Aerosmith wont play at Woodstock 99....
I do not know if this is all true and if this is Aerosmith's "fault" or just something Howard Kaufman has decided himself. As far as I know this is all rumors the only fact as we know it is that they wont play at Woodstock. We will just have to wait until we get some official information from the band.
Anyway, here is what the Artcle said.....
Aerosmith manager has music execs Livin' on the Edge
by Gayle Fee and Laura Raposa
Friday, June 18, 1999
Don't breathe a word of this. Because nobody's supposed to know. But
apparently Aerosmith's new manager Howard Kaufman's heavy-handed tactics are
hitting a sour note with many in the music biz.
Word is, the Bad Boys Of Boston and the organizers of this summer's Woodstock
'99 festival are thisclose to parting ways over what one source described as
Kaufman's ``irrational'' demands.
And Sony, the band's record label, reportedly is highly suspicious over a
sneaky recording session in the South End where the band re-did their
chestnut, ``Sweet Emotion.''
Word is, the band sold the song to General Motors for a TV commercial that
will net the boys a sweet $8 million. But it looks like they might be trying
to cut the record company out of the action!
``Howard knows that Sony owns the rights to their music,'' said one spy.
``But if the band makes a new recording they can say they don't have to give
Sony a cut of the $8 million.''
Well! Sounds like the band Don't Want To Miss A Thing!
You may recall that Aerosmith hired Kaufman's HK Entertainment, the
organization that handles Jimmy Buffett, Chicago, Steely Dan, Stevie Nicks,
Boston and Lenny Kravitz, after they jettisoned their old manager, Wendy
Laister, a few months back.
Shortly thereafter, we're told, Kaufman went back and tried to renegotiate
the terms of Aerosmith's deal to play at the July 23-25 Woodstock festival in
New York.
``They're not honoring their agreement and Howard's throwing a big wrench
into the show,'' said another source. ``They want to change everything from
their positioning, to the money, to when they play and what they need
backstage.''
Although Kaufman reportedly threatened to pull the band out of the lineup,
which includes Sheryl Crow, Dave Matthews Band, Everclear, Jewel, Alanis
Morissette and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the two sides are still talking and
the issues could be resolved. Which would probably come as no small comfort
to the 120,000 fans who've already bought tickets!
Aerosmith is currently on tour in Europe and their people didn't return our
calls. Meanwhile, we hear the Rolling Stones' attorney, John Branca, is on
board to do the deal with General Motors.
The Stones have made a bundle licensing ``Start Me Up'' to Microsoft, ``You
Can't Always Get What You Want'' to Motorola and ``Brown Sugar'' to Pepsi. So
speculation is rampant that Branca and Kaufman are the brains behind the
secret recording session at Sound Techniques in the South End.
Expect the band to argue it's a new piece (even though they used their old
producer, Jack Douglas) and Sony to contend it's the Same Old Song And Dance.
Stay tuned.

Ricky Martin Looking For The Aerosmith Sound??
Santi Reports:
A month ago, famous latin singer Ricky Martin was on a spanish TV program
talkin' about his new album, and he said that "for my new album I´ve looked
for the sound of people like Bon Jovi and Aerosmith". I almost jump when I
heard that, because Ricky's music is very different from Bon Jovi and
Aerosmith. Obviously he said that because the co-writer Desmond Child
colaborated in his new hit "Livin la vida loca". Has mr.Desmond Child
played some Aerosmith albums to show Ricky how cool our favorite band sounds? Maybe so! : )

Aerosmith To Jam With Jimmy Page At Benefit Concert
Aerosmith has mentioned a benefit gig taking place prior to the Wembley gig and that they are planning to jam with Jimmy Page...
We now know that Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes will team up for a special one-off benefit
concert on June 27th (same day as the Aero Fan Fair) at the Cafe du Paris in London on June 27.
This is the same venue Aerosmith had their listening Party back in Jan 97 for the launch of Nine Lives. So this is probably the Charity gig that Steven & Joe mentioned.
Proceeds from the show will be donated to the Action for Brazil's Children's
Trust, a charity Page sponsors that provides aid to poor and underprivileged
youths in the South American country.
Aerosmith on 'TFI Friday' on Channel 4 in the UK
Aerosmith rocked on TFI Friday last night, performing Pink, I Don't want to miss a thing and Train Kept a Rollin'. Steven and Joe also gave a great interview with the host Chris Evans and the crowd were going wild.
More on Aerosmith at Harrods (From www.nme.com)
SHOP GIG CHOPPED
AEROSMITH cancelled their show at Harrods last night because they didn't have a work permit, but the band showed up anyway in a horse drawn carriage.
The band were due to play a gig for the birthday party of the daughter of notorious Harrods boss, 'businessman' Mohammad Al Fayed but according to press reports, the paperwork was not submitted in time for the band to obtain the necessary work permits. Had they played even an impromptu show, it would have jeopardised their Wembley Stadium appearance on June 26, at the Toxic Towers event.
Al Fayed relaxed his 'no jeans' rule for the evening to allow the wizened rockers admission to the store and gave them a guided tour.

New Song Recorded For A Soundtrack
The Following Was Found On MTV Online's website:
The band is rumored to have recorded a new song for an unnamed soundtrack
with producer Jack Douglas at the helm in New York last weekend, although
those involved are remaining tightlipped about the project. A spokesperson
for Douglas confirmed that his client had been working with Aerosmith but
declined to cough up any details. The group's publicist was unaware that the
band had been recording, and its management was unavailable for comment.
Now, the song they recorded should either be for the movie "The
Runaway Bride" or "Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2."
Run DMC & Aerosmith
Run-DMC will reunite with Aerosmith and producer Rick Rubin to record a track for its new
album, Crown Royal, which is due in late 1999, according to a statement
released today.
This time, the team will remake a Run-DMC tune, "It's Tricky," which
originally appeared on the rap act's 1986 blockbuster Raising Hell.
Coincidentally, the album, which reached No. 3 on the Billboard album chart
and was certified for sales of 3 million copies, also featured the first
Run-DMC/ Aerosmith pairing, on a cover of the latter's 1976 hit "Walk This
Way."
The recording schedule is yet to be set. The music is ready, but
Run-DMC may have to head to Europe to cut the vocals to accommodate
Aerosmith's busy schedule.
Run-DMC and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry have also taken their
collaboration to the stage. On Saturday (June 5), Tyler and Perry joined
Run-DMC on stage to perform "Walk This Way" at top 40 radio station KISS
Boston's Concert 20 "The Big One" at Tweeter Center. In early March, Tyler
and Perry joined Run-DMC at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, Calif.
Harrod's Press Conference (As told by Clive D. Newton)
The band were asked a wide variety of questions, some far out, and
others the expected safe question (probably those they have answered
3000 times).
They did a tribute to Bruce Fairburn an the positive things he did for
Aerosmith.
They sort of mentioned about the supposely secret Disney venture that
nobody is supposed to know about. Joe blamed Tom about blabbing it on
the internet (and then retracting the story). When Steven told Tom, you
should be telling the story, Tom said "No comment". Apparently there
will be a press release in about 9 days. The band detailed they had
riden the ride 2 months ago and it is over the top for anything Disney
would do.
They mentioned the RUN DMC get together recently and about the Its
Tricky colaboration. Apparently RUN DMC will be sending Aerosmith tapes
whilst over here in Europe.
Various references to Liv. Whether Steven would be acting with Liv.
Joe detailed where they would be playing that NYE and basically implied
that any good band will be playing on that date. "If you're not working
on NYE, you're out of luck..."
First qu: Had they bought anything yet (I think implying they were in
Harrods) and Tom said Mr Al Fayed gave them these massive cigars.
They made references that they would be going secretly to a secret gig
which has now happened. They were asked why The Stones are attracting 50
year old people and Aerosmith are still attracting Sweet sixteens.
Not much was said about the forthcoming LP. People probed and linked
Jack Douglas but the band didn't really answer the question. They
detailed they took bits and pieces from previous sessions. There seemed
to be a little bit of az swipe at someone over WKOLAYO in it not making
NL but being a hit on Armedgeddon as it to prove to others they were
wrong.
Someone asked if they could talk a bit more about their new single
"Pink". Steven's response was short "Pink, it's like red but not quite".
They talked about an Aerosmith that flew about on the Space shuttle.
Most dumbfounded question they got. They asked what they though of Skunk
Anansie's new LP and it was a case of who.
Joe was asked about Adrian and Stamford.
Steven clarified if they had played at Harrods, it could have
jeopardised the Wembley stadium gig.
A few references to Kiss and Simmons getting laid all the time and him
getting off on spitting blood.
Aerosmith Will Play In Japan on New Years Eve
They were asked at the press conference at Harrods what they would be doing on NYE
and Joe said they would be in Osaka (Japan). A quick probing question
from the press saying "Playing?" and Steven said "Yes".

Aerosmith to Rock, Guests to Roll At New Disney-MGM Studios Thrill Ride
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The five members of
America's premier rock band, Aerosmith, who have sold more than 80 million
records and influenced generations of musicians, have teamed with Walt Disney
Imagineering to create a high-speed thrill ride that will rock and roll Walt
Disney World Resort guests -- literally.
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith, blasts off this summer at
Disney-MGM Studios as part of the largest property-wide expansion in Walt
Disney World history. The indoor roller coaster features a high-speed launch
of 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds, three inversions, rock-concert lighting and a
specially created Aerosmith soundtrack blasting from 120 onboard speakers in
each coaster train -- all firsts for a Walt Disney World attraction.
"This thrilling new attraction is a perfect fit for Disney-MGM Studios and
its celebration of show business -- film, television, theater, animation and
now music," said Walt Disney World president Al Weiss. "And Aerosmith, with
its multi-generational, international appeal and ever-youthful approach to
rock 'n' roll music, is a fantastic match for this new thrill ride."
Formed in the early 1970s in Boston, Aerosmith (Steven Tyler, vocals; Joe
Perry, guitars; Brad Whitford, guitars; Tom Hamilton, bass; and Joey Kramer,
drums) is more popular today than ever before. In fact, the global appeal of
this internationally renowned band continues to grow, thanks to the recent
release of its chart-topping, multi-platinum studio and live albums ("Nine
Lives" and "A Little South of Sanity"), a #1 single from the motion picture
"Armageddon" ("I Don't Want to Miss a Thing"), a Grammy Award and a stunning
live performance at the 1999 Academy Awards.
"When you've toured the world as much as we have, it's a real thrill to find
a new audience," said lead singer Steven Tyler. "Coming up with a soundtrack
for this Disney ride really brought the kid out in all of us and has given us
the opportunity to play audio gymnastics with our music."
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, to be located near The Twilight Zone Tower of
Terror(TM) on Sunset Boulevard, represents yet another breakthrough in Disney
theme park rides.
"Once again, Imagineers are at the forefront with this technologically
progressive attraction that fuels awesome thrills with the power and allure
of rock 'n' roll music," said Ken Wong, president of Walt Disney
Imagineering, the creative design and development division of The Walt Disney
Company.
Guests aboard each "limo" will encounter nearly 5 Gs as they transition from
launch to loop at the ride's first inversion. By comparison, astronauts
aboard the Space Shuttle experience 3 Gs at liftoff.
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster will surprise guests with unexpected twists, turns
and high-speed revolutions along its darkened tracks. The attraction begins
with a tour of the fictional G-Force Records, where guests encounter
Aerosmith finishing up a studio recording session. After being invited by
the band members to see them in concert, guests climb aboard a 24-passenger
"stretch limo" and swiftly accelerate into the Hollywood night.
The enclosed experience will feature brilliantly lit Southern California
landmarks highlighted by a trip through the famous Hollywood sign -- 365 days
a year, rain or shine.

Only £10 per head ($16) to charity!!!
Aerosmith at Harrods in London on June 8th
News From The UK
Seems the band are a little rusty on the International touring front as the
flight from Boston to London on Sunday night was delayed for 3 hours when
Steven apparently forgot his passport and had to go home to get it,
apologising profusely to the other passengers who by this time where now
quite irate until they realised who he was and then broke into Walk This
Way!
Also the scoop on yesterday afternoon's non performance - Mr Al Fayed had
wanted the band to play at Harrods as a birthday treat for his daughter.
This of course didn't happen because the Performing licence did not come
through in time. Steven was pretty dissapointed.
Funny one this: - When asked why he had so many lines on his jaw line he
responded with: "Smiling and oral sex"
Finally the following article is from Dominic Mohan's Bizarre column from
todays Sun Newspaper.
In my interview with Aerosmith on May 14 I may have given the impression the
band spent £l0 million on drugs durlng their career.
Yesterday guitarist Joe Perry went on the record to correct my story.
He said "I demand an apology. - Aerosmith spent at least $15 million on
drugs"
I am happy to set the record straight - or not as it may be!
The American rockers jetted into Britain yesterday to promote their Wembley Stadium show later
this month with a Press conference at London's Harrods.
The store turned a blind eye to its usual rigorous dress code.
The band sported scruffy, unbuttoned shirts and lots of jewellery.
Singer Steve Tyler said
"We thought they could use us as an example for their new strategy of
letting people in."

The historic rap-rock summit that paired Run-DMC and Aerosmith on ''Walk This Way'' (recently memorialized as one of EW's ''100 Greatest Moments in Rock'') will finally get a sequel. The two acts are reuniting for a follow-up, overseen by original producer Rick Rubin. ''Rick said that since we remade one of Aerosmith's old records in 1986, we should remake an old Run-DMC in 1999,'' says Run, a.k.a. Joseph Simmons.
The new tune is based on the rap trio's '87 hit ''It's Tricky.'' According to Run, the initial, limited release of their late-summer album ''Crown Royal'' will be a double CD, with one disc of new songs, one of greatest hits (à la Michael Jackson's ''HIStory''). In the can are guest appearances by Nas, Method Man, and Lord Finesse (the voice on Fatboy Slim's ''The Rockafeller Skank''); the last tune to be recorded -- if all goes well -- will be a Beastie Boys hookup. But Run sounds most excited about a different rock-rap teaming: ''The Sugar Ray/Run-DMC record is completely sick,'' he promises of ''Here We Go Again.'' ''It should be given out in airsickness bags.''
Aerosmith In Todays Boston Herald
Here is an article that was in the Boston Herald today:
Aeroplane heads to Europe
The boys from Aerosmith jetted to London yesterday to start their 20-date
European tour, returning next month to gear up for Woodstock '99. And after
that, they'll get going on a new album in the fall.
``We're looking forward to a good six weeks in Europe,'' guitar man Joe Perry
told the Track. ``It's the biggest tour we've ever done over there and we're
criss-crossing with the Stones, festivals and a lot of other bands that are
over there. We'll start work on the new record in the fall. We've already got
a couple of things written.''
Perry said before he starts penning potential Aerosmith chart-busters, he
must settle his 18-year-old son, Adrian, in at Stanford University in
September. And although Adrian plays in a pick-up band around his home in
California, he doesn't want to follow his famous dad's footsteps exactly.
``He wants to be a lawyer,'' Perry said. ``And he likes the music business
and if there's one thing I found out, it's that one of the most important
things to have in this business is a good lawyer.''
But before we depart Aeroland, the band's buddies want to set the record
straight about Joe and Steven Tyler's alleged tardiness the other day at KISS
Concert 20.
According to F.O.A.s, the band's main men, who were there to perform with Run
DMC, were an hour early for the gig. It seems it was the Run-ers who took
their sweet time Walk(ing) This Way to the Tweeter Center.
``One needed to eat after he got off the plane, the other wanted an extended
nap in his hotel room,'' said Someone In the Know Whose Name Isn't Joe. Same
old story, same old song and dance. . . .

Classic Rock Magazine
Aerosmith are on the front cover of the new Classic Rock Magazine, Issue 5, July/August 1999.
All in all there are 8 pages including an article on Joe Perry. Quick excerpt follows:
Even if you didn't know his name, as soon as he walked in the room - his
gaunt, chisselled features and bronzed, gym-trim figure making him appear a
good 20 years younger than his actual age (49) - You'd know who he was.
Someone rich; maybe even someone famous. Its not just the classic Roman
looks, the shiny dark mane of hair or the expensive hand-made threads that
give the game away. It's the aura that surrounds him. The heat. something in
the black-as-coal eyes and the slow, purposeful walk that says: watch yo
ass, fucker, somebody important coming through here.

Aerosmith At The Victory Program's Annual Dinner
Here is an article that was in the Boston Herald today:
We hear rock 'n' roll chronicler Stephen Davis - whose latest work was ``Walk
This Way,'' the authorized biography of Aerosmith - has scored a big advance
to do the unauthorized biography of the Rolling Stones. Unauthorized? Sounds
like the book will give the reader much more Satisfaction than the sanctioned
tomes!
And speaking of Aerosmith, bad boys Steven Tyler and Joe Perry turned out
last night to party for a good cause at the Victory Programs gala in the
Royal Sonesta. The Boston rockers and wives Teresa Tyler and Billie Perry
showed at the soiree to support April Kramer, wife of drummer Joey Kramer,
who chaired the ``Reflections '99'' fund-raiser for the Victory Programs'
women and family services.
And here's what the Boston Globe had to say about it:
The Aerosmith crew, including Steven and Teresa Tyler, Joe and Billie Perry, Joey and April Kramer, and Tom and Terry Hamilton, were expected last night at the Victory Program's annual dinner, whose chairwoman this year was April Kramer.
Adrian Perry has been accepted at
Stanford University
John Kalodner Starts New 'Hair Metal' Record Company
According to Rolling Stone Magazine issue #815 page 27:
If you long for the days when men with teased hair stalked the earth in zebra
striped spandex, John Kalodner wants to rock you like a hurricane. After
subsisting on a steady diet of state fair gigs for nearly a decade, big hair
metal is about to mount a comeback, thanks in large part to A & R guru
Kalodner and his all hair metal Portrait Records.
Starting this summer, Kalodner- who helped orchestrate AEROSMITH'S mid
eighties resurgence-will use his label to release a steady stream of new
material from such lapsed multiplatinum acts as Cinderella, RATT, Great
White, Pat Benetar and Damn Yankees. Portrait will be distributed through
Sony, thereby ensuring that the label will get the kind of marketing and
production muscle Kalodner needs to sell his pop-metal counter revolution to
the record buying public.
Kalodner approached Sony with the idea of starting the imprint in January
1998.
