As reported on WCSX (94.7 in Detroit) after record execs gave it a

they didn't say.

STEVEN TYLER, JONATHAN DAVIS Jam With CAMP FREDDY At Hollywood Event: Photos
Available - Feb. 25, 2004
AEROSMITH singer Steven Tyler, KORN frontman Jonathan Davis, SEX PISTOLS
guitarist Steve Jones and former GUNS N' ROSES bass player Duff McKagan were among
the guest performers at the CAMP FREDDY gig at a GM party/Hollywood fashion
event Tuesday (Feb. 24). Check out pictures from Wire Image.
As previously reported, CAMP FREDDY is the Los Angeles-based "jam" band
consisting of JANE'S ADDICTION guitarist Dave Navarro, former THE CULT touring
bassist Billy Morrison (on guitar), ex-GUNS N' ROSES/THE CULT drummer Matt Sorum,
and vocalist Donovan Leitch (the son of 1960s U.K. folk-rock icon Donovan).
According to Reuters, Tyler belted out LED ZEPPELIN's "Whole Lotta Love",
with Sorum and the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' Chad Smith filling in for the late John
Bonham on a pair of drum kits. McKagan covered THE DAMNED's "New Rose", a
track from his old band's 1993 album "The Spaghetti Incident?", and later
returned to the stage to play bass behind GREEN DAY singer Billie Joe Armstrong as he
covered THE STOOGES' "Search and Destroy". KORN's Jonathan Davis, meanwhile,
covered BLACK SABBATH's "Paranoid". Besides Sorum, the core band comprised
Navarro, his JANE'S ADDICTION colleague Chris Chaney on bass and Morrison on
guitar.
Commented Billy: "It's not often you get play a LED ZEPPELIN song with Steve
Tyler on vocal and Chad Smith on drums! All the guests were great. An awesome
night out."

Steven Tyler Leads Rock Stars at Fashion Show
Wed Feb 25, 2004 06:31 AM ET
By Dean Goodman
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Old rock stars don't die. They perform golden oldies
at corporate fashion shows.
Such was the case on Tuesday when Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler, Sex Pistols
guitarist Steve Jones and former Guns N' Roses bass player Duff McKagan belted
out old chestnuts at a high-wattage Hollywood fashion event.
With a "GM" logo shimmering brightly in the background, and sharply dressed
security officials stalking the stage to make sure no one got too exuberant,
Tyler belted out Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love,' with Guns alumnus Matt Sorum
and the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith filling in for the late John Bonham
on a pair of drum kits.
McKagan covered the Damned's "New Rose," a track from his old band's 1993
album "The Spaghetti Incident?," and later returned to the stage to play bass
behind Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong as he covered the Stooges "Search
and Destroy." Green Day drummer Tre Cool helped out Sorum on that performance.
Other guest vocalists included Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath, doing his best Phil
Lynott impersonation, Korn's Jonathan Davis covering "Paranoid," and Macy
Gray, covering the Pretenders and Blondie. Besides Sorum, the core band comprised
guitarist Dave Navarro, his Jane's Addiction colleague Chris Chaney on bass
and the Cult's Billy Morrison on guitar,
The show followed a fashion display that featured the likes of Matthew Perry,
George Lopez, Molly Shannon, Kim Cattrall, Devon Aoki, Anne Hathaway, Roselyn
Sanchez and Navarro strolling down a catwalk, competing for attention with
various shiny autos. Onlookers included Aimee and Kelly Osbourne (moving in
different circles), Nicky and Paris Hilton, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, both
furiously chewing gum, Dennis Hopper, Michael Clarke Duncan, "American Idol'
starlet Ryan Starr and Carmen Electra.

Steven Tyler, wasabi lunchin' with a business pal at Kabuki Sushi at the Howard Hughes Center, Hell-Ay. - Steven Tyler sighting
Mike B writes:
I wanted to tell you I had a Steven Tyler sighting last Tues day. I work at Tower Video in Hollywood and the are filming " Be Cool" right outside. I was on my dinner break and I walked over to check out the filming and I saw Steven hanging out on the set. I was able to talk to him only for a few seconds but I will remember it forever. I told him I learned how to play music listening to Aerosmith and that I can't wait for the new album. Then I got his autograph and he shook my hand and asked my name and that was it. He was a very nice guy and the fact that he took the time to talk to me makes me feel good about being a fan of his. I have met him and Joey and both have been very cool. Two down, Three to GO!
- Bob Mayo RIP (DMAAT)
Bob Mayo passed away on Feb. 23 from a heart attack. He was 53. He
played keyboards with Aerosmith, Peter Frampton, Hall and Oates,
Foreigner, Robert Plant, Ian Hunter and others. (from Premiere Radio
Networks)
----
Guitarist, keyboardist Bob Mayo dies at 52
By FRANZISKA CASTILLO
THE JOURNAL NEWS
(Original publication: February 26, 2004)
Onstage with Peter Frampton, Hall and Oates and Aerosmith in the world's
frenzied rock 'n' roll coliseums, Bob Mayo's guitar and keyboard chords provided
the backbeat for the rock hits that defined a generation.
But even after years performing for legions of screaming fans, Mayo was never
above playing humble local gigs, remembered Bob Rasero, a guitarist with The
Renovators, a rock group based in Bronxville.
"He would come off the road with Frampton and he'd call us up, and we would
play a little bar in Bronxville," Rasero said yesterday. "Even if there were
only 10 people, he always played his heart out. Small club dates or big shows,
he played the same."
Rasero added his story to a memorial e-mail circulating through the local
music community yesterday, two days after Mayo died suddenly while on tour with
Frampton.
Mayo died Monday afternoon of a heart attack on a train platform in Basel,
Switzerland, his stepdaughter Catherine Jacoby, 17, of Nashville, Tenn., said
yesterday. He was 52.
Born in New York City in 1951, Mayo moved as a young child to the Crestwood
section of Yonkers, where he studied classical piano and later became a fixture
on the local rock circuit. While other teenaged garage musicians were
producing little more than cacophony, Carmel music producer Chris Cassone remembered,
Mayo clearly had exceptional talent.
Even during his high school days at Iona Prep in New Rochelle, "he was
stopping traffic," said Cassone, who first saw Mayo play keyboard in 1969 at a
Fordham University show.
Two years later, Mayo had taught himself to play the guitar, and landed a
recording contract with the band Doc Holliday. Balancing school and a hectic
music schedule, he managed to graduate Iona College in 1973, Rasero said, and soon
began playing with Peter Frampton, backing him on his legendary 1976 live
album, "Frampton Comes Alive."
Mayo toured off and on with Frampton for the next 27 years, taking breaks to
tour with Aerosmith, Robert Plant, Dan Fogelberg, Hall and Oates and
Foreigner. He also recorded in 1980 with Joe Walsh of The Eagles, and later, with
Foreigner on their album "4," which produced hits like "Waiting For A Girl Like
You," and "Break It Up." More recently, he recorded with Frampton on "Frampton
Comes Alive 2" in 1995, "Live in Detroit" in 1999, and the 2003 studio album,
"Now."
Even after he moved to Nashville three years ago, Mayo kept in touch with his
Westchester roots, traveling back often to see his family and play with
groups including The Renovators, a rhythm-and-blues-tinged rock quartet.
Renovators bassist Al Hemberger is planning a memorial concert and asks
interested performers and fans to call him at 914-793-8206 or to e-mail him at
misteral@aol.com.
Mayo is survived by fiancee Laurie Pellillo, 49, of Nashville; her daughter
Catherine Jacoby, 17; sons Christopher, 22, and Gregory, 19, of Harrison;
sister Mary Jo Mayo of Yonkers; and former wife Carolyn Mayo, of Harrison.
Local funeral arrangements are still incomplete, but a wake will likely be
held Sunday at McMahon, Lyon and Hartnett Funeral Home at 491 Mamaroneck Ave. in
White Plains, Mary Jo Mayo said. Call the funeral home at 914-949-7777.

- Oh Yeah [SACD]
Looking back, I notice that I posted already back in August, 2002, that Ultimate Hits would be released as in Super Audio CD Format later that month. I never heard anything about it, and had petty much forgot all about it, until today when I got a mail detailing it's available at Amazon.co.uk, but STILL only for pre-order. There's a reviewer there, however, who apparently has it. Anyone know anything about this release?
Catalogue Number: 5084676
SACD version is not all it appears, 15 September, 2003
Reviewer: johnl2221 from Ellesmere Port, Cheshire United Kingdom
I purchased the SACD version fully expecting aerosmith to blast from my system in full 5.1 surround. Sadly I am disappointed, this SACD version is in stereo only (comfirmed by searching the sony.com/sacd site), the frequently range may be vastly improved by it not what I expected.

Recently, when asked about the Brit Awards performance (this was before the event itself) Justin said we requested Aerosmith but it didn't work out which is a shame because they're my favourite band.
- Track Times (aerofanatic)
Some of you may be dissapointed in the following track times:
Road Runner 3:44
Shame, Shame, Shame 2:15
Eyesight To The Blind 3:10
Baby, Please Don't Go 3:24
Never Loved A Girl 3:12
Back Back Train 4:23
You Gotta Move 5:31
The Grind 3:47
I'm Ready 4:13
Temperature 2:51
Stop Messin' Around 4:30
Jesus Is On The Main Line 2:48
Only 4 songs over 4:00mins? Hopefully most of these songs have blistering solos...because the shorter timed songs maybe be too "slick" for musical jamming...
- Original artists? (aerofanatic)
As far as who origingally did the songs:
01. You Gotta Move -- Mississippi Fred McDowel
02. I'm Ready -- Muddy Waters
03. Eyesight To The Blind -- Sony Boy Williamson
04. Back Back Train -- Mississippi Fred McDowel
05. I Never Loved A Girl Like I Love You -- Aretha Franklin
06. Temperature -- Little Walter
07. Stop Messin' Around -- Fleetwood Mac
08. Baby, Please Don't Go -- Big Joe Williams
09. Roadrunner -- Bo Diddley
10. Jesus Is On The Mainline -- Mississippi Fred McDowel
11. Shame Shame Shame -- Ike & Tina Turner (not sure if theirs is the original version)
12. Into The Grind -- Aerosmith
The Stones have also covered "You Gotta Move." Aerosmith will probably make it more of a rocker...

- Honkin' on Bobo info, per Clive Newton (aerofanatic)
There has been a few online stores detailing about a
TBA Aerosmith single for March 24th so I've been
digging around looking and talking with Japanese
sources. There was talk of the Making of the album DVD
ages back but like all DVD projects it all went quiet.
I thought they might go like other bands and have it
as a special bonus release with the studio album but
that doesn't seem the case. The single in Japan is out
March 24 on SICP564 and retailing for 1200 yen. Not
sure what the tracks are but it is a maxi single (most
Japanese ones are and expect maybe different mixes on
it unless using it as a album sampler as album out the
same day).
In Japan the album is out on March 24 on label numbers
SICP 565 and 566. The latter is the limited edition
version package. I haven't seen any evidence of any
additional tracks to date in either
European/Intl/Japanese releases.
The DVD seems to have the cat number of SIBP 40 and
out March 31. I think it's called The Making of
Honkin' On Bobo. It's retailing in Japan at around
3800-3900 yen (the limited edition album CD is 2800).
---------
Aeroluvr added:
The source of the DVD information is listed below. It details out the catalog number (SIBP-40), price (3800 yen = about $35) and the fact it is Region 2 DVD format which will NOT work in US or Canada I believe.

Cookin' Grammy Style!
I'm going to pick up where I left off last week.
After landing at LAX, Joe and his son Tony headed straight to the hotel for a
shower and a quick bite to eat. Steven was already at the hotel. At about
3:00 PM everyone left for the Green carpet at the Staples Center. The carpet was
green this year because it was sponsored by Heineken. I did not find any free
samples to my chagrin. All I could find was H2O and RC Cola. RC Cola? Who
drinks that stuff? I had about 8 of them through the course of the night, however.
I digress.
BB King heard that the twins of toxic were about 5 minutes away so he waited
for them. He wanted to walk the carpet with Steven and Joe. They love BB and
you could tell he was well schooled in Aerosmith.
After about an hour of pressing the flesh the guys were ready to go inside,
but not after Joe cornered Carson and the guys from Queer Eye for the Straight
Guy. Joe asked Carson "How am I doing? Joe opened his coat and leaned on his
cane. Great! Quipped Carson. "Don't change a thing." Joe gave him a rare smile
and continued inside.
The guys headed for David Wild and the teleprompter room to go over their
lines with BB King. David Wild in case you don't know is one of the most
respected journalists in the business. He has forgot more than I will ever know about
rock music or music in general. Steven and Joe rewrote their lines to fit them
and BB looked on in amazement.
After that they went to their dressing room and watched the beginning of the
show. To say Prince blew them away is an understatement. Joe and Steven then
headed for the stage to present their award for Hip Hop Rap Album. On the way
Joe said hello to Jack and Meg from the White Stripes. Tony is a huge Stripes
fan and I'm sure was bummed not to accompany his father to the stage.
After the award Steven joined his family in the seats to enjoy the show. Joe
did a quick spin around the press tent before catching the last half of the
show. I'm sure the whole band will be there next year when "Honkin' on Bobo" is
eligible for a few victrolla's of its' own.
After the show Steven went to a few of the industry parties and Joe headed
for the red eye to NYC to be on the show "Cooking with Emeril." It was taping at
3:00 PM the next day so it didn't leave much time for sight seeing. In the
lounge at the airport Joe and Tony got to see the West coast feed of the show
live. People were looking at the monitor, then looking at Joe and wondering what
the hell was going on.
As we boarded the plane and started to settle in our seats, Tony gave me a
tug and said "Hey that's Sarah Jessica Parker next to you, Go say something."
What the f*%k am I going to say to her. Hey Jess, I love your show. She must
hear that 100 times a day. She seemed nice and signed some autographs for the
crew. Then it was lights out. Next thing I knew we were landing at Kennedy and
SJP bolted like she was shot out of a cannon. I then thought of a witty line to
say to her, but it was to late. She had disappeared in a sea of New Yawkers
before I could get my carry on out of the overhead bin that shifted in flight.
After getting to the hotel 2 hours later because of rush hour traffic, it was
time for a quick catnap before heading over to Emeril. We arrived at the
studio and Joe got acquainted with the band. He went over a few songs and it was
show time. What a blast! He made a bunch of dishes with Joe's Boneyard Brew and
kept Joe in stitches the entire show. He even helped him with one of Emeril's
creations. After the show Joe took a tour of the studio's kitchen, which must
employ 40 people or more to make the show a huge success that it is. He gave
out 200 bottles of hot sauce to the entire audience. The show should air the
last week in May.
The 5 guys got together the next day to put the finishing touches on "Honkin'
on Bobo." It is slated for a March 30 release as you know and it will be so
fresh that your cottage cheese in your fridge won't even go bad by then.
Although I've heard "Bobo" many times, I experience the same frisson when the band
hit on all cylinders on the opening chord of "Roadrunner."
Brad, Joey and Tom headed to Florida for a little R&R before the guys all get
together to rehearse before heading to Lubbock. Brad took in the Daytona 500
and could be spotted in Victory Lane, giving Dale Jr., thumbs up on his win.
See you on the Road!

- URGENT MESSAGE TO STEVEN TYLER FANS!
I've been working with the producer of the film Goodnight Joseph Parker. He is looking for email support from Steven Tyler fans to help get his film released. Please read and forward the message below to anyone who might assist. Thanks!
We’ve all been waiting for the release of Steven Tyler's film. If enough emails are submitted to the producer we might get our wish by this summer. Visit the website at www.GoodnightJosephParker.com, click on the link “DEMAND FILM” and fire off an email. You could win a piece of Steven Tyler’s costume or unreleased Steven Tyler bloopers on video.
- Bobo Rumor (aerofanatic)
There is a rumor going around that in Japan, March 24th the single "Baby Please Don't Go" will
be released, and 2 weeks later a DVD entitled "The Making Of Bobo" will be out. I think it
will be very much like the making of PUMP. However, this information hasn't been verified by
official sources and it is open to error.
- Jonny Lang article (aerofanatic)
This is in the same vein as the Steven Tyler stories a few posts ago.
It's from today's Bradenton Herald in Florida. In an interview with
Jonny Lang, they talk about his new CD, which, if you have heard it,
it sounds like the same kind of transition Aerosmith made. Much more
commercialized music, straying from his blues roots. Very Triple A
and Adult AC. He actually sings about happy love... anyway here are a
couple excerpts from the article:
Q: "Long Time Coming" is definitely more Aerosmith than Albert
Collins. Do you still consider yourself a blues singer at heart?
A: Motown, black soul music, stuff like that has been a big influence
as far as singing goes. I don't look at myself as one type of singer.
I can't honestly say I can nail any certain style. I mix a bunch of
things. I steal from everybody (chuckle) and make it my own.
------------
Q: You've shared the stage with B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Aerosmith and
the Rolling Stones, among others. What was your most memorable
backstage experience touring with such legends? (Long pause) You
know, did Keith Richards ever put you in a headlock or anything?
A: (Laugh) I think I have been put in a couple headlocks backstage.
My favorite (backstage memory) was Steven Tyler - who is such a nice
guy by the way, (Aerosmith) treated us amazingly - he had this guy
bring him a bear-cat. I thought it was a fictitious animal that my
uncles would talk about. I didn't know it was an actual animal. I
walked into his dressing room and (Tyler) had the thing curled around
his neck. "What is that?" I asked him." "A bear-cat," he said. So
classic to see Tyler with this big animal. I think he really likes
animals.

- Be Cool (DMAAT)
Aerosmith's Steven Tyler's Be Cool Role
Source: MTV Wednesday, February 18, 2004
MTV reports that Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler will appear as himself in Be
Cool, the sequel to 1995's Get Shorty.
He'll begin shooting next week at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where
he'll appear as a spectator during a sporting event. The rest of Aerosmith
will likely show up during a performance scene and may also be featured on
the soundtrack.
The 2002 book "Be Cool" was written by Elmore Leonard, who included
Aerosmith as characters in his story. Leonard met them after one of their
shows in August 1997 and was so taken that he asked if he could write them
into his book.
The follow-up centers on Chili Palmer (John Travolta), a loan
shark-turned-feature film producer who gives up the movie business when he
discovers a singer, Linda Moon (Christina Milian), whom he wants to make
famous. The film also stars The Rock, Vince Vaughn, Uma Thurman, Danny
DeVito, James Gandolfini, Cedric the Entertainer, Harvey Keitel and
Outkast's Andre 3000.

Just like AeroFANatic.com reported over a week ago, now MTV.com has the FINAL tracklisting for "Honkin On Bobo". That tracklist is a follows:
01. You Gotta Move
02. I'm Ready
03. Eyesight To The Blind
04. Back Back Train (Joe Perry Vocal)
05. I Never Loved A Girl Like I Love You
06. Temperature

08. Baby, Please Don't Go
09. Roadrunner
10. Jesus Is On The Mainline
11. Shame Shame Shame
12. Into The Grind
This is interesting as it looks as if this album really is a COVERS album...with only ONE new song, the ballad "Into The Grind". None of the other "new" tunes made the album.
Makes me think the band really wanted to do this album OLD SCHOOL...and stay to their roots. The new songs just didn't fit in.
In any event, Grind WON'T be the first single either. I am hearing the first single is actually a rocker that will blow us all away. Can't wait!
2 Joe Perry songs. NICE.
As always, AeroFANatic fits ya just like a thong ;-) When we get new clips of the album, I of course will post them...

- AeroFANatic.com SET LIST REPORTERS!!! (aerofanatic)
Yes folks, it's that time of year again.... Sperm and ovum rejoice!
Aerosmith is about to hit the road in support of their latest disc, "Honkin On Bobo"...and AeroFANatic.com wants to give you a front row seat to the action. While we cant always be PHYSICALLY THERE, thanks to the internet, we can be VIRTUALLY THERE!
For the last 4 Aerosmith tours, AeroFANatic.com has brought you EVERY SINGLE SET LIST from EVERY SINGLE SHOW. That's an amazing feat everyone; but I could not have done it without you....the FAN. It is the FANS around the country that get us all the set lists...
Set List reporting is GREAT because it allows us fans to see what the band is playing night in and night out, and it allows us to discuss the band music, our likes, and dislikes of a particular nights setlist. Not only does AeroFANatic.com compile set lists, but it also compiles interesting notes from every show that fans can see.
Here's how we do it.....
AeroFANatic.com assigns ONE to TWO fans for EVERY SHOW on the tour. It is that reporter(s) responsibility to write down the set list, as well as any interesting notes, and relay it back to me. I then take that set list, attribute it to the REPORTER, and post it ALL OVER the internet for ALL TO SEE. It really is a great system that has worked BEAUTIFULLY over the last 4 tours.
There are 2 ways to relay the set list back to me. One (most preferred) is via cell phone call as soon as the last note is played. This call generally takes about ONE MINUTE, and with cell phone rates nowadays this is generally a free call. The 2nd (last option) method is to email me the set list when you get home from the show. Better late than never!
Tha's pretty much it folks!
A NOTE TO PREVIOUS SET LIST REPORTERS- AeroFANatic now has a new CELL PHONE #. The old number you have stored will no longer work. CONTACT me for the new contact info....
Who wants to help? If you are a newbie, we would LOVE to have ya! If you have done this for me in the past, I once again would LOVE to have ya help out. It truly is the fans of this band on the internet that make it a global community....
All you have to do is to email.... chris@aerofanatic.com with your name, primary email address, and the show (s) you will be attending. I will keep track, and a few days before the show I will contact you and we will set up arraingments!
Let's keep this SET LIST TRAIN rollin' along. One little chore at every show, will make ALL FANS for the WHOLE TOUR very very happy! Let's do this YACKCKCKAOW!
Once again, shoot me an email at chris@aerofanatic.com and let me know your name, primary email addy, and the show(s) you will be attending and we'll hook this UP!
Aerosmith truly has the best fans in the world, and the reason why I do this is to share the love of the music to ya all!

A lot of music…
... Just one man.
The Title says it all.
Guitars, Vocals, Keys, Bass, and Drums, each performed by Dwight F. Ferren. It's all here.
Written*, Arranged, Performed, Engineered, Recorded, and Produced by Ferren as well, these
songs can make you Rock, Laugh, Think, Reminisce, and Relax.
If The Beatles, Don Henley, and Billy Joel, procreated with ZZ Top, Aerosmith, and Bob Segar,
Ferren is what you'd get.
Not so humble beginnings
Ferren got his start in New Hampshire with Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. You can hear Mr. Tyler
dedicate the song I AIN'T GOT YOU by the Yardbirds "FOR ALL NIGHT DWIGHT" on the
Aerosmith album LIVE BOOTLEG released in October of 1978 on Columbia. (See
www.LesTension.com for more detailed information.)
But Now...
You will benefit from him taking the reins completely in his own hands. From the opening
tongue in cheek first number " Mean Mutha",* to the thought provoking " The Price You Pay"
right through to the Jeff Beck inspired ending instrumental "Just A Feeling",
All By Myself is recorded proof that Dwight F. Ferren is truly a multi-talented musician.

Tyler was Cool in film
Seems the Grammy Awards weren't the only thing on Steven Tyler's Left Coast
agenda. Aerosmith's main man also had a date with John Travolta to film a few
scenes in his new flick ``Be Cool.''
The movie is a sequel to ``Get Shorty,'' which is based on the Elmore Leonard
best-seller.
"Leonard is a pal, he was always hanging around backstage,'' Tyler told the
Track, ``and he said `I'm gonna write you guys into my next book.' We took it
with a huge grain of salt, but sure enough, he did.''
Tyler will play himself in the flick.
"The story is that they're trying to make this girl a star and they're
`trying to find Tyler to have a listen.' ''
We don't know whether Steven tells the aspiring singer she's Amazing or to
Dream On.
So stay tuned!

- Healing power of music used for fund raiser (small Aero mention) (DMAAT)
Healing power of music used for fund raiser
By Melissa Beecher / Tribune Staff Writer
Wednesday, February 11, 2004
WALTHAM -- The Middlesex Human Service Agency is using some star power to
replenish a budget that has suffered $300,000 in cuts over the last three
years.
According to organizers, Music for Middlesex 2 is the social service
organization's response to a financial struggle they continue to face each
year.
"Fund raising has become a necessity to supplement our budget," said Bob
Herne, clinical director of MHSA. "We are asked to do more with less, and
fund raising has seemed to be the only way to make ends meet."
In the last three years, MHSA's medical detoxification program has been
closed, as well as out-patient services. MHSA combats homelessness and
substance abuse and addresses mental health issues. The program currently
operates dozens of shelters throughout Waltham and the Boston area.
Herne and Peter Hackel, longtime friends and Newton natives, organized the
second annual Music for Middlesex, which is scheduled for Feb. 27 at the
Regent Theatre in Arlington.
The list of performers includes Fred Lipsius from Blood, Sweat and Tears,
Jon Butcher, Joey Molland from Badfinger, Boston Music Award 2003 nominee
James Montgomery and Friends, Joe Pet from The Joe Perry Project and Steve
Sweeny from radio station WZLX, who will serve as the master of ceremonies.
One hundred percent of all proceeds are being given directly to the
Middlesex Human Service Agency. All musicians and those coordinating and
helping put the event together are donating their time and services.
Hackel, himself a musician who has played in various arenas for the last
three decades, has harnessed some of his best and biggest contacts within
the music industry to help local charities.
"We felt that this is our way to help make life better for others," said
Hackel. "These type events have become necessary to keep social programs
going."
Last year's Music of Middlesex featured a surprise performance from Steven
Tyler of Aerosmith, who sang alongside various rock and blues artists from
the Boston area. This year, Aerosmith has donated third-row tickets to
their June Tweeter Center performance that will be part of a package
auctioned off on the night of the show.
Tickets are currently on sale through the Regent Theatre box office or the
Middlesex Human Service Agency. A $50 donation is requested for general
admission and supporters who contribute $150 or more will be invited to
attend a pre-performance dinner catered by Jake's Dixie Roadhouse at 6 p.m.
and an after-show meet and greet with the performers.
Those patrons who contribute $150 -- which is the cost to feed and shelter
a homeless family for one night -- will be entered in the raffle for the
Aerosmith's "Velvet Rope Package." The package includes tickets, a grand
tour the day of the concert and a meet and greet with Aerosmith.
Tickets are available through the Regent Theatre box office online at
www.regenttheatre.com or by calling Middlesex Human Services Agency at
781-894-6110 ext.20. Donors of $500 and over will be seated in the first
three rows. All donations are tax deductible.

I like the idea that the innocent out there (if there are any left among Aero fans) can think Honkin on Bobo means playing the harmonica. And the lipstick only adds to the uh...real meaning. Yep, this one is a good one. Would be funny if it DID come from MIT student versus their highly paid ADVISORS that have sold them on ideas used in the past like the ever

He says there will be 14 total and doesn't mention any bonus or hidden tracks
for the US version which kinda surprised me. He also stated he does not want
to divulge the other two new track titles until another source does first or
he might have to deal with crap surrounding them. We already knew about Into

but we'll all know soon enough.

Super Bowl Sunday!
We were told we had to leave the hotel at 12:30 PM to get through the massive
security at Reliant Stadium. We cruised to the stadium and got through the
security checkpoint in record time. With 3 and a half hours to kill the guys and
wives relaxed in their dressing room.
I took this time to find my brother's seats that were about a mile and half
from where I was. Great seats - don't get me wrong but I could have used a cab
to get to them. As show time/game time rolled around the band got a little
more antsy. There was no talk of baring any breasts or grabbing any crotches. The
guys seemed more concerned about wearing the black jumpsuits. I added my 2
cents that it made them look more like a team. The guys did a quick photo shoot
with Ross in the bathroom and then it was showtime.
The 5 gladiators strolled down the hall like warriors going to battle. The
band were lined up in the runway where Carolina was to exit the field. This made
me feel uneasy that our beloved Patriots wouldn't be coming our way for a
final pat on the back. Then I thought this would be perfect, I could throw Ross
Halfin into quarterback Jake Delhomme possibly separating his shoulder and
maybe even hurt Jake in the process. I thought better of it and let the chips fall
as the may.
After a scorching 4 minutes of Baby Please Don't Go and Dream On the band
left the stage. As we headed back into the runway I saw an overzealous Pat
O'Brien being put back in his place by security guards after he attempted to cross
the line and interview the boys on their way out. The band changed and gathered
their belongings and headed up to their suite to catch the coin toss. Joey,
Brad, Joe and Steven shared the box with Willie Nelson and Toby Keith although
Willie was nowhere to be seen. Maybe he was on his bus writing a song. Tom had
other seats with a bunch of friends.
The box directly to our right was occupied by a group of young excited
football fans rooting mainly for Carolina and some NFL brass. The game was going
along great then halftime hit. From where we were we couldn't tell if it was
Michael or Janet never mind a nipple. I do remember honcho's from the NFL dancing
and digging the halftime show in the adjoining suite. Then about midway
through the 3rd quarter I heard their cell phones start ringing and the warm happy
glow that was on their faces were replaced by a stoned stoic blank stare as
they gazed into space with their mouths drooped open. That was the last I saw of
the NFL brass as P. Diddy and Kid Rock quickly snapped up their vacated seats
like a mini van stalking an empty spot at the Mall. I knew something big
happened but wouldn't find out until much later. During the 3rd and 4th quarter P.
Diddy was goading the crowd with his Panther's jersey and basically pissing
off the Patriots fans. Steven would have none of this spot light stealing and
got the Pats fans cheering with some cheerleading of his own. It was all done in
good fun and after Adam Vinatieri kicked the game winning field goal even
Puff gave the New England faithful an "I'm Not Worthy" bow.
After the game the band headed back to the hotel to regroup for the Patriots
Celebration Party at the Intercontinental Hotel. It was no secret that the
guys were gonna jam. And jam they did. They ripped threw Aero-Classics, Sweet
Emotion, Walk This Way, Train and Walking the Dog. They were joined on stage by
Kid Rock and Toby Keith, as well as Pat's owners Jonathan and Bob Kraft. Donnie
Walburgh and a slew of Patriots rounded out the onstage mob. The party lasted
until 4:00 AM with Snoop Doggy Dog taking the stage for an hour and a half
set.
The next day we flew home and it was back to work almost immediately. The
next few days the band spent holed up in the studio mixing "Honkin' on Bobo" with
Marti F. The band will release the CD on March 30th. The guys also spent time
on the artwork with Sony reps and planned out their schedule until they hit
the road March 11th in Lubbock Texas. Sony is planning on releasing a limited
edition pressing that will come with a special gift. When I saw it, it reminded
me of opening a box of Cracker Jacks when you were a kid.
The Grammys: As I write this I am on an American flight to LA. with Joe and
his son Tony. Steven is in California already. He flew to Sacramento on Friday
to take part in his daughter Mia's wedding. As you know Mia and Papa Roach
drummer Dave Buckner (no relation to Bill) got hitched Vegas style back in
October. Steven and Joe along with BB King will present best Rap Hip Hop Award.
After the show Joe will take the red eye to NYC. He will be taping a show with
Emeril and do some press for the album.
Next week I'll recap the Grammys and keep you posted on the tour with good
friends Cheap Trick!
See you on the road!

Aerosmith Concert Sells Out, Leaving Fans Disappointed
Fans of the rock band Aerosmith "Don't Want To Miss A Thing"
Many stood in line overnight to get tickets for their Lubbock performance.
But tickets are sold out. So if you didn't get yours ...well, "Dream On."
Some Lubbockites stood in line for 15 hours in the freezing cold to get
tickets only to find out that it was useless: The good tickets were gone even
before they went on sale.
The promoter held almost all the good tickets and the attitude by the
promoter seems to be if you don't like it- you can just "Walk This Way."
Trace Moore stood in line for 15 hours Friday night and Saturday morning.
"It's not fair," he says. "I'm a huge Aerosmith fan. I have been all my life."
Moore was eighth in line and he was so excited about getting good seats. But
he ended up getting seats "up in the rafters."
Garrett Perkins also stood in line 15 hours in the freezing cold. "It was,
'Here you go, take 'em or leave 'em'," he says.
Perkins used to be a concert promoter, so he has a unique perspective. "Did
they do anything illegal? No. At the same time, I think it shows a little bit
of not thinking, not communicating, and not caring to the public," he says.
Perkins says there's nothing wrong with the promoter keeping seats but
someone should have told the people who stood out in line that the best seats were
gone before they ever went on sale.
John Walker with Select-A-Seat says he had no choice in the matter.
Aerosmith kept the good seats and that was that. "Most of the good seats were held
for the Aerosmith fan club, by orders of Aerosmith," he said.
But Perkins says that "Same Old Song And Dance" won't work. "We didn't know,
it's not our fault, we weren't in control,. Well yeah, you are. You have a
lot to say about how the tickets are distributed," he says.
The concert promoter is Clear Channel, the owner of several major radio
stations here in Lubbock. A phone call to a spokesperson with Clear Channel was
referred to a public relations firm in New York, who did not return phone calls.
Just to clarify people aren't upset that Aerosmith kept the good seats.
They're upset that no one told them that before they stood in line in the freezing
cold.

Wow, the man has done it again! Neal Morse may have left his band, but his music still sound exactly as we've come to expect from this man while he was in Spock's Beard. Not even the sometimes overtly christian lyrics brings this album down, in fact they don't even sound preachy. Simply put, this is a beautiful album!

THE POWER OF TWO
Complementary chord voicings, and how to play "Dream On," part two
JOE PERRY In last month's column, Brad and I went over how we play the intro section of "Dream On." This month, we'll discuss the individual guitar parts we play during the song's verse and first pre-chorus sections.
BRAD WHITFORD "Dream On" is a great example of how Joe and I always strive to devise complementary guitar parts that, when blended together, create a lush sound. As we discussed last month, many of the guitar parts Joe and I play on "Dream On" originally started as piano parts, and we rearranged these piano figures and chord voicings for electric guitar.

They came on with Toby Keith and Willie Nelson and did "Once is Enough." It seems like a lot of the audience was singing along!! It sounded good and Joe had a good guitar solo in it. The guys did a filmed comment during the show with Steven saying how they are really country boys and that the song A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action was a great song, etc. Joe said they like different kinds of music including country. I think that was filmed during a rehearsal, and they looked kind of tired. They came back again at the end for A Little Less Talk... every one performed on that. A great extended jam with loads of guitars. Steven was doing his thing on the harmonica. Joe was wearing his red shirt with black leather jacket and pants. Steven was pretty casual with torn jeans and a gold tone print shirt. He did wear a metallic gold jacket in the first song. No sunglasses. They looked like they were having fun.
Sammy Hagar, DMC (of RUN DMC) and Ted Nugent was apparently on the show too.

At least Joe is trying to give Jack some good words here..but it implies he

Aerosmith Avoid Thinking About The Charts
02.04.2004 4:37 PM EST
After Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry present a Grammy on Sunday,
they'll return to Boston to put the finishing touches on their long-promised blues
album, Honkin' on Bobo, due March 30.
The band hasn't yet decided on a single, and Perry said finding one that will
work on modern radio is difficult. "I don't know if there's a top-40 radio
hit in there," he said. "I'd like to see something with a hard bluesy vibe get
played, but I don't know if there's anything like that on the charts right now.
What we're doing definitely isn't hip-hop."
It also isn't exactly the blues - at least not your grandfather's style of
blues. While Honkin' on Bobo will include covers of songs by Muddy Waters,
Fisher/Hopkins and Blind Willie McTell, the tunes have been reinterpreted in a way
that's distinctly Aerosmith.
"We started out by saying, 'We're not gonna try to define what blues is or
fit what you think blues is,' " Perry said. "This is just our interpretation of
the music that influenced us, and it was very easy to call it blues, but
there's R&B, funk and other elements in there as well."
One reason Aerosmith decided to record a blues-based rock record was to get
back in touch with their gritty roots. Not that they're tired of playing
ballads like "Cryin' " and "Crazy," they just longed to revisit a place that existed
long before commercial viability became a prime concern.
"When we did Just Push Play I thought that there were some good songs on
there, but looking back at it, I can see that it certainly doesn't sound like the
first record," Perry said. "I don't think we could ever sound like that again,
but we can definitely take the attitude we had when we recorded those songs.
On this record we worked to keep things more immediate and not really think
about what's on the charts."
Aerosmith first announced they would record a blues album back in August
2002, and they entered the studio to begin the project in April 2003. The record
was originally slated for release last September, but the band decided to
record a handful of songs live during its tour with Kiss and possibly include them
with the studio recordings (see "Aerosmith Blues Album Inspired By Bike
Crashes And Funny Phrases"). Further delays occurred after the tour, when the group
decided to go back into Perry's studio and tweak some of the mixes.
Jack Douglas has been in the studio with Aerosmith working on the new record.
While Douglas' last full project with the band was 1977's Draw the Line, he
has returned over the years to work on various best-of packages. That ongoing
communication allowed him to fully reconvene with the band for Bobo.
"This was the first time in a long time that we worked with him for any
length of time, and it was great," Perry said. "I think it helped facilitate that
feeling of a band being together and playing together in a room. He was the
last person to do that with us from the beginning of the band's origin. He was
there when we started to learn how to use a studio and he taught us a lot back
then. So to have him there as a familiar face was important."
Aerosmith will hit the road with Cheap Trick on March 11 in Lubbock, Texas,
for a tour that runs through June 28 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

2/2/04 - Houston we have NO problem
Tuesday we flew down to Houston from Boston. The guys seem really excited
about playing at the Super Bowl. On Wednesday the band went to NASA to film a bit
for their opening segment on Sunday.
The bad boys spend the whole day filming in some replica Space Shuttles. They
are joined by some real astronauts during the course of the day and seem like
kids in a candy store. The day ends with the guys being interviewed by
Entertainment Tonight and CBS television.
They have so much fun they return the next day to fly in a simulated Space
Shuttle. Joe's son Roman had the best score. The other guys had decent scores
and were told by the astronaut in charge that if the Shuttle actually crashed
because of their poor landing they had a good chance of walking away from it
with bruises. I drank my diet coke and shot the sh*t with Ross Halfin on dry
land safe from Commander Tyler and Whitford.
That night the hotel took on a life of it's own. The quiet of Tuesday and
Wednesday were now replaced by the constant buzz of football fever. More
prominent were the southern accents of the Carolina's and the annoying drone of my
homeland. Look there's F'n Tylahhhhh! Hey Steve! Sign my Football! I wouldn't
trade it in for nothing, though. My Patriots are in the Super Bowl and nothing
could be finer.
On Friday the guys had their obligatory press conference. They talked to
press from all over the world. One reporter asked the band why come back to the
Super Bowl if you have already played it once and Steven shot back, "Do you only
have great sex once!". I thought that summed it up and is one of the great
Tylerisms. They also did some one-on-ones with CBS and Pat O'Brien from Access
Hollywood.
Then it was off to Reliant Stadium for some quality rehearsal time. Now the
rumor going round is that Aerosmith wanted the dome closed for their
performance but that couldn't be further from the truth. It will be open for good
reasons. Patriots owner Jonathan Kraft stopped by the dressing room and gave the
guys New England Patriots game jerseys with their names on the back. It might be
tough in this politically correct world to don on the shirts for the game,
however.
After the rehearsal Steven and Joe headed to a really small studio to
rehearse with Toby Keith for his CMT special. Toby is an awesome guy. Kind of like
Ted Nugent but a little easier on the pallet. Toby is a great patriot and that
in and unto itself is reason enough to play with the guy.
Also getting to jam with Willie Nelson and Sammy Hagar ain't too bad either.
Poor Sammy was cornered by Ross Halfin and tortured into hearing his Jimmy
Page stories.
That's all I got for now but I will recap early next week.

- Super Bowl Post Game Party
Andrew writes:
Aerosmith, sans Mr. Perry, gave us quite a treat at the post game superbowl party at the Hotel Intercontinental. After an set of country sounds by Jodie Messina, the stage came alive with Bob Kraft, Kid Rock, Toby Keith, Steven and the boys. Don't know why Joe wasn't there, but the kid filling in for him was great. They started with Sweet Emotion, passing the mic around from Kid to Toby to Steven, but Toby gave up because he just didn't know any of the lyrics. The guests left and the band went into Walk This Way. After that they huddled and seemed to be looking for a request. I was right at the stage and was yelling Somebody, a personal fave, to which Steven gave a bewildered look. I then started screaming Train Kept A Rollin' to which they obliged. I was in total amazement. That was it, but it was sweet. Between the Pats winning and all the festivities, this was at the top.
- Steven with role in "Get Shorty" sequel (aerofanatic)

country for the last eight weeks or so. Now you can add super hot

"John Travolta is set to reprise his role in the sequel, along with
Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, Harvey Keitel, Uma Thurman, Danny DeVito,
and others."
A plot outline from http://www.imdb.com
"In this sequel to Get Shorty, Chili Palmer gets involved with the
music industry, a murder, more mobsters, and a gay bodyguard who
wants to be a singer."

"...Later, Chili and Edie drive back along Sunset towards Sunset

his new book WALK MY WAY at a bookshop on Sunset. Chili recognizes
Steven's bodyguard BEAR. Edie tells Chili he should talk with Bear to
see if he can hook Edie and Chili up with Steven.
"Later that night, Chili comes home and finds a dead body in his
house. Chili calls Bear. Bear comes over, picks up the dead guy so
Chili can get the dead guy's wallet and we find out it is IVAN, a
Russian that Tommy fucked up earlier when they were trying to muscle

- The Superbowl Performance
Aerosmith, dressed in some type of NASA outfits, took the stage and performed Dream On, and gave a nice taste of the forthcoming album with a short verion of "Baby Please Dont Go." Apparently, the stage show was topped off by parachutes.
Tyler used his "blues voice" for Dream On, the voice he used on the first album. Ironically enough, the ONLY song from the 1st album he DIDN'T use that voice on was...Dream On.
The sound crew did a bad job. The mix was WAY off. The music was way too low and Steven's voice was too loud. The sound was better during the halftime show...even if it wasn't as great as the pregame... Guess they did need that extra rehearsal time! LOL ...but at least we know they didn't lip sync like all the other acts (except Kid Rock)
At least sound was bad coming through the TV, but it also seemed like Steven wasn't getting good reception through his ear piece. He came in late on the first part of dream on and was off key. He put his hand up to his ear a lot as if he was having trouble hearing.

Right before they introduced the halftime show, one of the guys said something like "how about Aerosmith again" and everyone started laughing, and Deion Sanders was leaning over from laughing so hard..
Not only did Deion Sanders say he wanted to hear more
Aerosmith, but there were two commercials that had
'Smith music. The trailer for the U.S. Hockey movie
had Dream On playing in the background and the Starsky
and Hutch movie commercial had Sweet Emotion.
Also, apparently Deuces Are Wild was played over the PA during the pregame stuff,
about an hour or so before the game started. Cryin' may have been heard at one point as well.
An all-around Aerosmith Superbowl!
- Mia's wedding next week... (DMAAT)
An excerpt from a post Mia made in her fan group today:
....Oh, our wedding is next week and I am soooo excited. I think we got it

dads startin it off with his big ol' lips and a lot of noise...
- Bobo Drops 3/30! (aerofanatic)
Aerosmith's "Honkin On Bobo" is now slated to be released in the USA on Tuesday, March 30th.* This will be the first Aerosmith studio album to be released AFTER the tour started for quite some time....
Expect some bonus materials on this CD, none of which I can yet clarify.
As for the first single, let's just say this: It's like a day at the beach....

- Regarding Aero Xpress and first 10 rows...
Bill points out a possible mistake in yesterday's post:
I just wanted to comment on the statement regarding the new "Aero Xpress" tier of fan club tickets, which was posted on your website. I am no fan of this new tier (or the new fan club for that matter) since it amounts to legalized scalping, especially at the sake of the hard core fans. But the comment that "even very long term members will not get anything better than row ten" seems incorrect. The new tier promises 1st ten rows CENTER section. I would hope this would allow long term members like myself to still purchase tickets in the top tier with the hope of still getting seats in the first ten rows, but in the left or right sections. This is exactly where I've been located in the past couple years anyway.

- AF1 Seating Information (DMAAT)
Looks like in addition to Velvet Rope, now the only way you can get in the
first TEN rows for sure is by paying an extra $100 or so per ticket. Though
regular prices are not finalized yet, most will be around $75 - $85 face value
for "best" TM seats this tour. Per AF1, first 10 rows (6-10 actually) is now
$180 per ticket. And it looks like for "regular" tickets they will all be
behind Row 10 AND you HAVE to buy TWO - no longer can buy ONE. Though you can buy
ONE for the VR and what they are calling Aero Xpress (rows 6-10 $180). So even very long term members will not get
anything better than Row 10 no matter what City, etc. Since they are doing the
smaller markets, they are pushing the VR with a planned meet of crew at least
too though STILL not guaranteed. Read on...

- Houston Blurb from Fresno Bee (DMAAT)
SWEET EMOTION:
Steven Tyler's goal of making Aerosmith the "house band of the space station"
got off to a good start this week.
The band, which has about a five-minute set in the Super Bowl pregame show at
Reliant Stadium, will kick off their brief performance with a short film
chronicling their experiences this week at the Johnson Space Center.
"They let us go down the facility and pay homage to it and experience zero
gravity, which we've experienced for many years," said Tyler, lead singer of the
five-member Boston-based band.
The group, unabashed Patriots fans, also got to pilot and land a shuttle
simulator.
"We had a shuttle pilot with us, so we can't take much of the credit,"
bassist Tom Hamilton said.

- Steven and Joe on CBS before CMT (DMAAT)
Steven and Joe were on a CBS show about superbowl commercials. The opening showed them as being part of the show.. Joe's hair looked a lot shorter.... I hear a rumor during the CMT show Joe stole the guitar solo part.
They included some of the biggies...coke, pepsi, mcdonalds but mainly from
1996, 1984 and a couple of other years including the year Aero did the 1/2 time
show I believe. The "special" last year was much better at any rate. Do
those years sound like CBS years?
- Early Show on CBS (DMAAT)
The guys said they were doing 2 songs, something old and something new and said the roof to the stadium would be closed then opened for a 'special effect'. Steven said something about flying but it was hard to tell if he was serious. lol. All five were there. I think Tom talked the most! Even Joey said something.
- Access Hollywood (DMAAT)
The boys were on it 6 min into the show.
- Video from ch. 5 in Boston (aerofanatic)
http://www.thebostonchannel.com
There's about a 2-minute video posted on the website of WCVB in
Boston with a few interview clips. Steven talks about the video that
will be played in the pre-game show.
Steven: (regarding the video) "We go up in the shuttle, we dock with
the space station, and then we jump out and plummet to the earth
through the roof... I'm not supposed to say this, but you got it
first."
Steven: (about being kicked off the pre-game) "You know, we love a
good fight"
Joe: "There was kind of a meltdown with the lawyers, that's all."
...but the HIGH point of this video is footage from Tom Hamilton's
Howard Dean impression!! He refers to the new Aerosmith tour.
Tom: "Actually as far as the tour goes, we're goin to Texas, we're
goin to Michigan, we're goin to Massachusetts, we're goin to
Connecticut... aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
